Running out for Christmas errands and wearing my new completed Know Me2057. This is a wearable toile made from a double sized quilted fabric. The creator of this cute jacket is @alissahthreads and once I saw her patchwork version I knew I had to make it. The curved hem and upper patch and lower welt pockets really add to this pattern. The quilted jacket made it out in the wild - and it was like wearing a cosy blanket 👌🏼 The autumn leaves in Arrowtown were stunning so I had to grab a few pics! 🍂 🍁 🍃 The fabric is a quilted bedspread I thrifted, I love the patterns on both sides and it’s also super warm! I used the @simplicitymccallsaustralia #me2057 by @alissahthreads - omitting the facings as my fabric was double sided already and adding bias binding to the edges. The fit is a nice oversized comfy fit ( I went with the finished garment measurements not the regular sizing as it is quite oversized!). I also cut 2 inches off the bottom of the hood before attaching it as it was otherwise just a bit too big. Day 5 puffer jacket - for those still following along we’re “Almost there “ outside of the jacket assembled, lining prepared, just need to attach them together and make it one gorgeous rainbow puffer jacket!! For those who sew, I foolishly thought a rayon crepe fabric would make a good lining (I was seduced by its colors) so I created a cotton facing all around the Lining to give it some structure when I bag the jacket out. This puff jacket can’t be ironed so it’s gonna cause some hard times creating a clean outside and inside line!! Fit check for #me2057 from @alissahthreads ! I've been fawning over photos from Copenhagen fashion week and seeing all the beautiful quilt coats. I'd say this is a wearable toile! *I sized down two full sizes and actually might size down one more for the "real" version. I would also swap the facings for some nice binding throughout. **Edit: sezane is selling a similar jacket for $455?! Not me having a heart attack. I am feeling ready for fall in this me-made coat!🍂 I was lucky enough to find this “last chance” fabric on sale for $5 a yard! It was a very fun fabric to sew and was unlike anything I have tried before! #ME2057 Another day Another live sew along 🧵 🪡 Proud of myself for sticking to my goal this week. Tonight was with @mighty_sew and it was a good night. We are all now welt pocket baddies (who cares if today was my 3rd one EVA) 🤣🤣 Great pattern. I had to do a last minute pivot with fabric. The one I had I didn’t have enough 😕🥴 but that’s ok. This worked. But I think I’ll be taking off the white pockets and making some black ones. The white is clashing so much now that I’m looking at it. I’m almost done. I’ve known Alissah long before she was an Ambassador for Singer as she was a guest on @the_sewcial_hour podcast in April of last year and we instantly connected over sewing, adorable dogs and love for candy. Pattern Hacking for Menswear ✍🏽 Heres my baby brother in his one and only HM original, my #ME2058 pattern coat as a Christmas present! Adapting this women’s pattern for men was simple really: ⚪️I chose a size the way I always do for Big 5 patterns - by looking at the finished garment measurements on the instructions/ envelope and comparing to my brothers measurements - choosing the right size based on the amount of ease (space for movement) I wanted. This one was a size 16. ⚪️ This was my first time trying this hack, so I whipped up a quick practice garment with a basting stitch to check fit ⚪️ I noticed the neckline was tight- this makes sense as John’s shoulders are pretty broad. We ended up taking 3/4in width out of the neckline of the coat pieces, lining, and front facing. Pretty simple. I also added 2in sleeve length and made the cropped view with 4 extra in length removed for his desired length. ⚪️ This coat is fully lined with snaps and zippered welt pockets. It’s also done up in just 2 colors instead of 3 and with added hood from #ME2057 pattern! ⚪️Fabric is deadstock wool coating from my favorite @stonemountainfabric 💗 Sewed up like normal and fit like a glove! I snatched up some of this designer deadstock quilted coating from @newcrafthouse SO FAST when I saw it. I mean 🌹😍. It’s silky smooth and so beautiful. And already pre-quilted, which I prefer 🤪. I made up @alissahthreads #me2057 because I have so many long coats, but no short ones! I skipped the welt pockets and just added the upper patch pockets down lower instead. I will avoid sewing welt pockets at all costs 😂. Just one of those details I don’t enjoy sewing 🤷🏻‍♀️. Also, peep that pattern matching with the facing on the inside in the last photo - completely accidental but it lined up perfectly!
