Been a while since I’d sewn something from one of “The Big 4” pattern companies. This is the @simplicity_creative_group #s9694 jacket I made in a soft, brushed cotton. The fabric was maybe a little too lightweight for this pattern, but I think it still works as a lightweight transitional jacket to throw over a tee or shirt in the evening. Quilted Jacket for Preston I have never made anything with Canvas fabric before. It's so heavy duty and such great quality. This was so fun to make - I took very precise measurements to make sure I got it right. 🧵 I have been so in love with the colour Blue lately, so decided to make Hubs a Quilt Coat!! 🪡 I’m particularly thrilled with how this turned out. I found the Crow’s Foot block in my thrifted Quilting Book, some very special shibori fabric (from @nomuratailor_jp ) that we recently purchased in Japan, and the rest fell in to place. Pattern is @simplicitymccallsaustralia #S9694. I made one out of a fleecy hoodie material first to get a feel for the pattern, and then made the quilted pieces to suit. 🦕 I can’t wait to get some pics of Hubs wearing his Quilt Coat this weekend. 🧿 Stay tuned! I've added pockets and flaps into the chest seam of #s9694 #simplicity9694 Husband wanted pockets and I didn't want to sew patch pockets so we compromised. To achieve the top stitching without drawing on the fabric I cut the finished shape in freezer paper and stitched round it.
