Whoa whoa whoa, I guess I’m taking pictures of my makes again! 📸 If you’ve been following my stories I’m sure you’ve seen all the different stages of construction only for a piece to never be seen again. I made piles and piles of clothes and didn’t get proper photos of really any of them so this year I’m going to try to be more on top of snapping and sharing. First off, I love these pants. I’ve worn them for 3 days so far (been working out some small kinks in the pattern) and I still don’t want to take them off. They’re made from a Marcy Tilton #v8499 pattern (now in reissue as #v1731 !) and gorgeously soft linen from @fabricoutlet. If you decide to snag this pattern and make a pair for yourself be prepared to size WAY down. I’ve made these in 4 sizes now and I still think this one (uk8) is still a bit big. Look at me wearing prints! I am usually not a print person but I couldn’t pass this lovely cotton/linen canvas like @jenhewett fabric I found at my favorite fabric store @firecrackerfabrics I think it was perfect for these Marcy Tilton for Vogue pants. I struggled with the waist band and the sizing was wonky. I made 2 sizes down from what I measured on the pattern listings. I, however, loved the knee darts, top stitching and pockets so much and I LOVE the finished product! #v8499 #v1731

These trousers definitely aren’t how I thought they’d be when I started them…🙄 I think I’m going to have to write up a review because I didn’t find any that said “they come up REALLY big so size down, a lot!” I’ve had the pattern for several years but never sewn them-don’t know why-but they are very similar to the Bob pants which are currently having a moment so I thought “why not?”🤷🏼‍♀️ I bought the fabric (some sort of linen/cotton/viscose mix) at Walthamstow recently which was very inexpensive so in effect they’ve cost me very little except my time. According to my measurements I should have made a UK 16 but my copy (more on this in a minute) don’t include finished garment measurements either on the packet or the pattern itself. This would have been extremely helpful! I’ve sewn up a 16 and they are MASSIVE! My problem is that all the seams are topstitched, and there are style seams down the centre front and back legs so it’s difficult to tell just how wide they are going to be until you’ve sewn them😔 There are some lovely details on them including topstitched darts on the knees and deep pockets on the front but they look nothing like the photograph on the packet, but then neither do I. They have a flat front and elasticated back which is the only reason I can still wear them without a major recut✂️ So, will I wear them? Yes probably… Will I unpick all that topstitching and size them down eventually? Probably not…CBA Disappointing? Definitely How will I style them? No idea, I’ve tried them with a variety of tops so far and I’m still experimenting. I think it will be a case of put them on but don’t look in the mirror before leaving the house!! So what’s in their favour? They are jolly comfortable and I love the colour! I’m a third of the way through my #makenine2025!#voguepatterns #v1731 previously known as #v8499 I think I’m in love 😍 this could be my next favourite pattern. I just love the silhouette. I think I will purchase the pattern again in the next size range as size 12 is the biggest size in the pattern I have and my waist measurement recommended size 20! Though according to my hips I’m between 14-16. This 12 does fit me but a little extra room over the belly wouldn’t hurt. Will post photos of me wearing it some time.
