It's a little shorter than I wanted, I made the neckline just a little lower than I wanted, and a little larger than I wanted in the bust however, I was able to take it in a bit at the side to help me out. Happy Halloween! 🩶 This was my first time making a costume for Halloween! 😱 I know, wild! So I made this Gatsby-themed Flapper costume with Simplicity pattern #S9088 which is a period costume pattern. I overlayed my satin fabric with this mesh sequin fabric and found all these cute accessories and shoes to match my dress! Needless to say, this was a fun make! Time to call this 1920s inspired shift dress project a wrap. I'm itching to get back to sewing some lingerie. 👙 I thought trim was a good call, but after sewing this trim on I'm not 100% in love with the application. Because of the squares it is an absolute biotch to get it to lay perfectly on a curved hem.

New Year's Eve 2019 was the start of themed gatherings of 1920s fashion. I live for a theme, but out of all of the decades, this era of fashion probably excites me the least. Mainly speaking of those cloche hats, that dropped waist and the strap/feather head bands. However, the more I research the style the more I find little things here and there that are interesting. Next slide shows the inspiration dress I started with and then a few more similar styles I found along the way for more inspiration with this project. Strapped for time and wanting something simple yet original, I am skipping over the typical fringe, beaded, and sequined flapper that's familiar and starting with Simplicity pattern 9088 in size 18 based on hip. It's a bit large, but with no zipper and no stretch I want to make sure it will fit over my head. Hoping the size will play right into the straight loose style of that time. A little late posting my Easter dress but here you go! This is #S8875 made in a fuschis colored crinkle cotton(possibly poly blend, not sure). I’ve had the fabric a year or more and was going to be something totally different but changed my mind!I hacked a different sleeve for it from #S9088. It didn’t fit in perfectly but I “made it work” and I love that length sleeve on me! Though there was a chill in the air on Easter morning, I wore the dress without a wrap because of the sleeve length.
