#memademay day 29 I’ve not been well lately, so have been living in comfy clothes and not up to sharing what I am wearing. But today I got a scrap of wool from the ‘free’ box where I teach sewing classes, cut the pattern out around the holes that were in it and made a winter jacket for this cutie. Pattern is the simplicity #S1765 #S1765A, but with the hood omitted. A good practice for halloween when I hope to turn Monty into a stegosaurus 😆 I’ve hardly touched the sewing machine this month, so this was a nice quick project to help get my enthusiasm back.

Day 5: Today, being in recovery allows me to be the mother I want to be for my kids. I get to Show Up and Show Out for them! There is nothing more in this world that makes me more proud and brings me the most joy than being a mother to my kids. Today, I value Motherhood, I embrace the experience, both the good times and the bad times. There was once a time, I was bitter and scorned about having to take on the responsibility of being a single mother. I kicked and screamed through the process making it difficult for me to find happiness and joy out of the situation. Nights I cried, longing for the ideal, that Picture Perfect family with the husband, the two cars, and a house. Searching for love in all the wrong places looking for a replacement. Telling myself, "It's not fair, pity me." But, those behaviors and that type of thinking led me nowhere. Those stereotypical ideas and expectations only divided me from my children, separated me from the love they had to offer and left me empty... filled with a void of rage. I had to change something... And, that something was me. That something was changing my thinking around what is motherhood to me. For me, it was owning my position and accepting what is... I am a single mother working hard to raise my children to be the best they can be. And, that's what matters and what counts, and anything else was irrelevant. I stopped playing the position of a victim and made an effort to focus on me and what I can do to support my children and show them my love. I claim this position as it was my destiny... I live to be the Best Mother I can be. Today, my children's love is enough for me. Today's feature is Halloween 2019. My daughter Skye was the only one that wanted to dress up for Halloween. She told me, she wanted to be Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony, so I made it happen. And, even though, we ran out of time, so the costume was not complete...
