Some #SEWING content for you today! Hubs was out of town all weekend, so that means it’s time to #sewallthethings! I finished my #s9113 #simplicitypatterns tunic, only to find I needed to add inches to fit my hips. I’ve successfully made things in that size before, but never found the finished hip measurement and so, #tookachance. Well, in this case, the #sewlimitedsizing did not work for me. I managed to save the garment, but not sure how often it will be in rotation (more pictures later). This, however, was a TOTAL #WIN! This is the #SABetty #SABettyWovenTunic from a gorgeous bit of #RubyStarSociety rayon, specifically the #GoldenHour Daisy in the goldenrod color way. (Fabric designed by @alexiamarcelleabegg, and phenomenal as always. LOVE her stuff!). Vintage Simplicity 9113 💜 Published in 1970 💛 Cut out February 2020 💙 Complete Summer 2020 🧡 I was thrilled the moment I received this pattern in the mail! It came in a big box with the pattern stash that belonged to many of the wonderful women in my family- including my great grandmother, her sisters, and treasured second cousins. Can you believe patterns used to be available for 85 cents?!?! I just HAD to make it big and bright and bold! So I picked a fabulous African Wax Print and got cutting (I was sooo excited about this make, I added it to my make mine list for this year). I believe only the size 18 was in the envelope, so (perhaps foolishly) I cut it out exactly as is. It was fairly simple to stitch, BUT I did loose track of which side was the wrong side of the fabric at one point. Resulting in a two darts on the inside, two darts on the outside situation as it came together... East enough to remedy. I also whacked a good bit off the bottom because I’m 5’1’ and decided for me the silhouette will definitely always be belted. Over all, a WIP that was a long time coming! It's a wee bit big, but I love it! So light and cool and colorful. I should know better by now than to make my measurement based size when there's a lot of ease. But the fabric is crinkle gauze from @fabricmart and it'll probably draw back in some when washed. Im a sucka for that cotton gauze. I made @simplicity_creative_group #9113 from the remnants of gauze I bought at @joann_stores and @melanatedfabricsco #s9113. It wasn't hard to make and im glad to make good use of remnants. This is a spring/autumn outfit, but I can rock the shirt through the winter with layers. I'm also wearing a @mimigstyle #anniecardigan but I'll put that in the next post. 📸 @dcartisted

I was on a real linen kick when I bought this fabric from @joann_stores. This is @simplicity_creative_group #S9113 and I made it in a size 22 with no modifications, other than my new sewing skill of bound seams! I found a fun batik to sew those in, and totally struggled with which side should be sewn first so that the stitches don’t show. I screwed that up at least 3 times, but now I know what “stitch in the ditch” means. Instructions came from @inthefolds’ Little Book of Seam Finishes. The pockets aren’t deep enough, and the pattern front doesn’t show that you’ll have a pleat at the front of the pocket. That means a decent amount of bagginess when I sit down, and kind of a weird front look. Don’t love that, but happy to wear this with flowy shirts/tees so no one needs to see it. Also, I really need to shorten the elastic; it likes to fall down as the day goes on and the linen relaxes. #handmade #linenpants #hb41b46w37h46 #b46w37h46 #simplicitypatterns
