My contribution to the #uglychristmasbrachallenge with a gingerbread theme, or should I say "Gingerbra"? It has been really fun and challenging to make this bra. First of all because I only had the local shop from my hometown to collect fabric, notions and decorations, and using my mom's old sewing machine not ready to sew so many thick layers! I had to sew the wavy ribbon decoration by hand but it was a great discovery to easily tack the channeling and hide the wonky lines at the same time. For the bottom cup top border I had to be inventive in order to hide the FOE that wasn't cooperative at all over the thick jersey. The lace is a vintage one from my stash but I only have one side, but I managed to make it look balanced and almost symmetric. Thr pattern is the latest #Simplicity9833 by @mmadalynne and this make would be my test fit bra! I really love the pattern and I just got it from @bwear.se so I had to bring it with me on vacation to try it on. In the end this challenge was perfect to make a bra at my mom's without suffering not being able to achieve nice finishes, ugly was on the assignment! I used cord elastic and folded it in so it wouldn't touch the skin 2nd pic 🤣 finally tried #altitudethong by @sophie_hines and loved it! Started with the recommended size, but have to go 2 sz down (it's not unusual for me). The first one I sew gusset on the wrong side and didn't realize until started sewing flounce 🙄 couldn't even think of unpicking triple zigzag so attached founces and sew pink elastic over the top of #sewingmistakes so it became a feature 😀. Waist is very high. On 2 pairs I lowered it slightly .- very comfortable, easy to assemble 3rd pic #s9833 wearable toile. I went 2sz down from past experience sewing @mmadalynne knickers . I used all the scrap fabrics and slightly overstretched one side, but it looks ok on a body. 4th pic I spent most time taking pictures like this 🤣 because it's quite windy here 🤣 #scrapbusting #sewingessentials #sewinglingerie #nowastesewing

April prompt by @madalynne_instalingerie was an a difficult task. A first class problem to have, when you just can’t choose what to make. This weeks matching make- the @mmadalynne @madalynne_instalingerie #s9833 bra with matching #fridayfrenchcuts from @emeralderinsews. I’m obsessed. Some notes- I didn’t want to use fold over elastic on the bra, so I added seam allowance to the mesh to be able to cover the foam in the lower cups. I also redrafted the same pattern piece to remove the seam over the foam in the stretch mesh only 👌 All lace, fabrics and elastic ect from @pitttrading
