hi barbies 💕 finally got around to seeing the movie and wore my hot pink dress with a matching bow 💗 I made the #me2039 by @alissahthreads Ok SO this dress was very much an easy sew and I could’ve had it done a lot sooner but I have a horrible habit of making/buying clothes that are too big for me. Once the dress was done I realized I should have went by the finished garment measurements and not my bust measurement. 「hi barbie!!」 I’ve been wanting a gingham dress for years, and this year I finally made one for my birthday 🌷💕🍓 could you imagine if I had made this last year?? I would have been wearing it to watch the Barbie movie (and this may be a potential halloween costume too) 🩷🎀 but I did get to wear out to have some sushi with my friends so I’m happy nonetheless 🥰 I can’t wait to see wear this again to be picking strawberries in the wild, making bread from scratch in a cottage, talking to frogs, or something like that lol (and yes, it’s very fun to spin around in) I used #me2039 designed by @alissahthreads ! the pattern overall was very easy to follow (with the exclusion of the bust lining - I should have watched her YouTube tutorial sooner) and I made a few adjustments like cutting the tie straps about 3/4” shorter and trimming the front ties to make them more even when tied in the back. I also opted to forego the tulle petticoat I’m really proud of how this dress turned out! With these commercial patterns I’ve been having some difficulty with sizing due to the amount of ease they add into the pattern. I’ve been able to resolve these problems and more confident in making alterations so that I can comfortably wear these garments 😊 I’ve sewn a few more things recently with success as well and I’ll try to remember to get some photos of them to show! hope everyone is doing well!! pattern: @knowmepatterns ME2039 fabric: camp gingham in Rosa from @fluidplusdrape #sewing #memade #cottagecore #gingham #knowmepatterns

Birthday dress in action!! 🩷🌸 This is the amazing #ME2039 designed by @alissahthreads. I’ve had my eye on this pattern from the first time I saw pictures, and I finally had the perfect reason to bring it to life. This might have been the first time I sewed a garment using a pattern not labeled “easy” and it definitely stretched my skills! This is a size 16, with the only alteration being that I made an elastic casing at the bottom of the puff sleeve instead of the sleeve band (but not for lack of trying- many sleeve bands were harmed in the making of this dress). The fabric is a thrifted bedsheet. I was able to cut the main fabric and the lining from the flat sheet and a little bit of the fitted sheet (full size, I believe?). I naturally found rainbow glitter tulle for the petticoat- I actually sewed it on inside out by accident, but I prefer the color being on the inside for a little surprise pop! I sewed the ruffle on too low which is why it’s so visible, but I don’t hate it. The cake is also #memade 🩷🩷

Up next a new pattern brand! Know Me patterns are designed by those in the sewing communities. I decided to make Know Me 2039 which is a short dress pattern with a ruffle, fitted bodice, and even tulle for a puffy effect. Very excited to see this one come together! This pattern was created by @alissahthreads And I have messaged her a few times regarding issues, she is super sweet and always helpful! Made #me2039 for my daughter to wear to her school's spring dance. This is a straight size 14. The only modification was adding the lace to the skirt. It's a cute pattern and not too difficult, just a lot of steps. The armbands are a little tight so definitely check that when you make it. A new skill unlocked for me was installing an invisible zipper. Thank you #alissahthreads for the ironing tip in the sew along. I've also only worked with tulle one other time and remembered it being a nightmare, but it wasn't too bad this time. I am going to go back and see if I can get the bust darts less pointy and the elastic in one sleeve came loose during the dance so I need to reattach that. All of the fabric is from #joannfabrics . The main is a crepe back satin, stretch lace, and cotton/poly lining with tulle on the underskirt. #sewingforteens #sewnashville #sewformal
