First try on of @simplicity_creative_group #s8866 elven goth dress. The neck is slightly saggy and needs tightening up, but that is very easy to fix, & overall I’m quite pleased with this. The hood is doing something completely different to the hood in the pattern picture, largely because it was one of those classic simplicity patterns with completely mad/incomplete instructions on the step that involved attaching the hood, so I wasn’t sure what to do so I winged it. I think my improvisation has come out ok though. & I know what to do properly when it comes to attaching it if I make it again. The jersey was off @maggiesfabricslondon as I didn’t want to waste expensive fabric on a wearable mock-up. So it was whatever Maggie had on the stall in large enough quantities (this dress needs serious amounts of fabric) I think it’s ok. It’s going to need serious accessorising with wigs and Viking jewellery though as right now, with such a sea of blue the effect is a bit school nativity play Virgin Mary. Sneaky Peek of my Halloween costume 🎃🧙‍♀️👻 Gotta do my finishings still, and this flu won't let me work long, but I had to show off these sleeves! The fabric is hefty (it's a medium weight stretch corduroy), and setting the sleeves took some magic. The pattern instructions had them being put in last, and I should've known better, but I was flu-muddled. Coaxing 8 yards of this weighty fabric around a comparatively tiny armhole was a real trick. #memademay completely isn’t happening so far as once again I spent the day in pyjamas feeling like complete crap. Thanks for that flu bug! However here’s a picture I took yesterday of my new @simplicity_creative_group #simplicitys8866 in @maggiesfabricslondon snakeskin jersey. Am absolutely loving how this has turned out. I don’t have completely the right jewellery to accessorise this yet, & there’s two things wrong with it - one is due to a major error in the pattern that I will go into in a LOT of detail when I properly blog it, one is I completely failed to get the neckline going in a straight line, but for a wearable mock up I’m really pleased with this.
