Summer Dress Du vent et un ciel bleu, le combo parfait pour vous montrer ma nouvelle robe que j’aime à la folie ! C’est la robe devant-dos réversible asymétrique de @knowmepatterns de @mimigstyle x @handmademillennial J’avais ce tissu en soie et coton fushia tirant sur le violet, hyper fluide et aérien depuis un bail et il est juste parfait pour ce patron. J’adore le fait que cette robe soit réversible, et j’aime autant le devant que le dos, l’un est en 2 parties avec un col rond et l’autre en 1 seule partie oblique avec un col légèrement en V. J’ai choisi la version longue mais il y a 2 longueurs possibles. Aucune difficulté pour ce patron mais il faut aimer coudre des fronces ! NEW pattern alert🚨 The angled, flowy, gathered Spring dress of your dreams. This is Know Me Patterns #ME2076 💜 It comes in a short and long view, can be worn with the scoop neck or v neck in front, has inseam pockets, bias bound armholes. This is view A in a silk crepe de chine fabric. SUGGESTED FABRICS include anything light to midweight with - a lot of drape - and flow. Rayon challis, crepe de chine, viscose blends, lightweight tencel and others. Be sure your lightweight fabrics are sufficiently opaque, but it’s also an easy one to hack a lining into for more sheer fabrics. AVAILABLE online right now at the link in my bio, then hitting stores in the US in the coming weeks, around the world where simplicity/McCalls patterns are sold after that! BEGINNER friendly pattern that comes together quickly. It will also have a video tutorial sewalong in a few weeks to help those visual learners :) FIT is loose and flowy with all of the gathers, so would be great for those who like a lot of room, fabric for twirling, room for pregnant ladies as well. I just finished hemming this KnowMe 2076 pattern by Handmade Millennial. I loved this design as soon as I saw it. I made View B but only had 3m of 150cm wide fabric, so I shortened it by 10ish cm at the hem and pieced the bodice. This is a reversible design with no darts in the bodice. It is a little shorter at the front hem, so maybe I’ll add a dart to the “back bodice” pieces next time so that I don’t get that slightly slanted hem. The fabric is ramie (and cotton, I think) in a voile and I’ve lined it in cotton voile. I did the “sew as far as you can up the armholes then hand stitch the rest” method for the sleeveless lining because the burrito method is very hard on fine fabrics when you have to pull a lot of skirt through. I had to think a bit about how to do the lining on this design. I had to think more than usual when cutting and sewing because this is asymmetric and things can go very wrong. I couldn’t get any more fabric if I made a mistake! Think twice, cut once! It was a workout for my spatial awareness. I ended up taking it in on each by 2cm, so 8cm total taken from the dress. This has meant my armholes are a bit triangular. But it looks like an echo of the V neck, so it’s a *design feature*. I was initially careful to avoid gathering in the seams, by avoiding gathering 1.5cm in in each side of the skirt panels but then I ended up sewing up the sides by 2cm more (3.5cm seam allowance), right in the middle of some gathering. I just tried to pull the fabric taut and spread it, and avoided sewing any little tucks. The right thing to do would have been undo the skirt to bodice seam to the new side seam point, letting out the gathers of the skirt at the new side seam, then reattaching the skirt the newly flattened skirt edge to the bodice at that section before sewing up the side seams. Clear as mud? But that sounded like too much work so I just bodged it. I can barely tell that I bodged it in the finished dress. Same pose different neckline 🩷 I loved this pattern so much I decided to make another! I did a poll on the last dress as to what neckline we liked the most as I was so undecided. After 40 votes it was tied 20 to 20 so that didn’t help me decide 😂 I think both ways look great and it’ll be a case of put it on and whatever way is facing front will be how it is worn for the day. #memademay Day 3️⃣: dressing in handmade garments everyday is easy, remembering to document them for a social media challenge is not 😌 I’m wearing pattern #me2076 by the fabulous @handmademillennial. It’s an elevated basic welcome to so many different interpretations and styles: eclectic, minimal, classic, party, office-friendly, casual etc. The fabric and modifications choices make for endless possibilities. I def can see this being the pattern of the summer! Despite its relatively easy construction, it was a nightmare for me. I repeatedly (five times!!) sewed pieces together backwards. The red on red with no clear right/wrong sides had me going crazy 😂 almost lost my #sewjo by the end of it. Fabric is a lovely crepe of unknown origin, bought from a fabric rummage sale. Again, trying to sew second-hand or vintage fabrics because the textile industry by-and-large is just as exploitative and environmentally unsound as fast fashion. Next outfit: @handmademillennial's #ME2076 for Simplicity, made to wear for the evening portion of Aimee's bachelorette. I made it in cupro from @blackbirdfabrics, which was so comfortable to wear. The pattern is reversible (though I forgot to photograph that part). I am frustrated that I didn't staystitch the neckline. I was making the dress in a hurry and that step wasn't included in the pattern, so I overlooked it. The fabric is slippery to sew, and really needed that staystitch because now the neckline is a bit warped. Ah well. Lessons for next time! …When you try to take some cute photos with your newborn and they just end up like this 😂 Welcome to the world little Mr. Adrian 💓 He was born on 1/19 weighing in at a chunky 8lbs 4oz and 20.5 inches. He makes the cutest little mewls and is all cheeks and rolls! My #ME2076 dress hacked with sleeves has been a great flowy postpartum dress so far. My water broke on a Saturday morning and 29 hours later little Adrian was here! Despite all the fears I had around birth, we had a relatively smooth medicated hospital birth that I’m grateful to say that I’ll look back on positively. Little guy already looking out for his mamas needs!

The Noodle Bag 🍜 Whipped up this quick little cutie the night before getting on a plane to London last week! It’s been a lovely adventure bag for exploring this big city. It’s the @tytkastudio #TytkaNoodleBag pattern that I’ve fallen in love with - done up in my favorite fancy textured marbled brocade fabric that I have stashed in three colorways 😍 I discovered this Etsy bag pattern shop last week, found the noodle bag on my commute to work, and had started and finished one after dinner the same day! Perhaps a 3 hour project from start to finish for me. I hacked it a bit: 🍜 Printed the pattern at 70% scale for a smaller bag and assembled as normal. 🍜 Used fusible bag foam from my stash to give the jacquard more structure, although this isn’t necessary. 🍜 Added a magnetic snap closure attached to the lining 🍜 Topstitched around the strap opening to keep the lining from rolling out. 🍜 Marbled brocade is from @moodfabrics and the fusible bag foam from @joann_stores. Debuted my #me2076 today! Made with a bright pink polyester crepe from the fabric shop in my neighborhood. Initially made this too big somehow, so I had to take in the side seams by 2” - woops! Love this for a warm day! I think it can be dressed up or down so I’m excited to wear it all summer!
