Love this dress! 🌼🌸🌻 I used the Simplicity Madalynne #s9779 pattern.The cover photo gave me inspo for this dress 👗. The fabric is a gorgeous flower print organic cotton poplin from @spotlightstores . Since making this dress the boning unfortunately began popping out of the bias binding strips down the front and made the dress pretty uncomfortable to wear. #Craftcation24 Day 3 was all just attendee fun in my new #RosieJumpsuit by @gertie18! My teaching was done Thursday, so Friday was spent just getting to make all the things. I got to paint my adorable Dolly with @paintyourpetevents (need to finish, whoops!), built a very remedial candle votive lol, and painted wooden earrings with @ohsojo_ - a day full of things I never do but that’s the fun of Craftcation! Outfit details: #RosieJumpsuit from @gertie18 #CharmPatterns with the pants and modified 1/2 sleeves (long sleeves cut just longer than the short puff sleeve cutting length). Fabric is a Kaufman polka dot canvas from fabric.com, RIP. This jumpsuit is such a joy to wear and I absolutely adore it. Oh and some bonus photos of the dance party from the night before because somehow these are the only pictures I got with my giant garden gnome and CC bestie @iamthekatiemac and her hubs. You made a birthday dress? Aw. How cute. I made a BIRTHDAY CAPSULE WARDROBE, y’all! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🎉🥳🎂🎈🎊 I fell in love with this fabric from @joann_stores so I grabbed like 8 yards of it on sale, enough to make three fabulous pieces (with a remnant hanging around, maybe to make an accessory at some point). Dress # 1: The #ChemiseDress from #gertiesewsjiffydresses by @gertie18. I added puff sleeves from the #cinchitdress adding a couple inches in length. LOVE this dress. So easy to wear and so flattering. This was my first time sewing with pompom trim and it was so easy and fun! I was also relieved to see how well the trim held up once put through a regular wash and dry cycle, ensuring that I’ll be able to get more use out of these pieces in the future. Dress # 2: #BarbaraBodice combined with the skirt from #simplicity9779 / #s9779 Bolero: #Butterick6938 / #b6938 All fabric: @joann_stores Pompom trim: @simplicity_creative_group It was a BIG ONE this year, so I felt the need to go the extra mile to ensure I could experience the milestone as a positive, not depressing, event. And so it was! 🍓🍰 I had a wonderful time celebrating with some of my favorite people. Check my stories for the art @minette.himes (girl in the orange and pink dress) made me! She is one of the kindest people you could ever hope to meet. Her mom @joscelynhimes is one of my best friends and a fabric designer and professional seamstress. I had a strawberry themed birthday party and they surprised me with the kawaii stuffed strawberry pictured. 🍓💕 The beauty in the red dress is @susanpologruto, another close friend who I met in law school. Now that I think about it, this dress is definitely giving spooky vibes — just in time for fall 🍂🎃👻 I followed the tutorial video for the #s9779, which was so helpful and gave me a couple new construction tips! My favorite is how they used basting spray adhesive instead of sewing the interlining pieces to the shell fabric for the bodice. I find that so tedious, so the spray has been a game changer! I use it in so many of my projects now. The original tutorial had the zipper at the back, but I moved it to the side seem to let the stunning open back have it’s ✨ moment ✨ P.S. What’s the difference between interlining and flatlining? I’ve definitely been using those terms interchangeably! ✨✨✨ Pattern: The bodice is a modified version of the (free!)
