Thank you for the kind get well messages on my last post. I am still dealing with vertigo and unable to drive but slowly improving each day. It seems that small amounts of sewing are doable so I’m thankful for that! I ordered this @hansenprintandtex from @fabricgodmother several weeks ago and it arrived last week when I was at my worst. I just put it on the pillow next to me and pet it while admiring it with one eyeball. I am totally bananas for this fabric. The colors are right up my alley and the scale is so bold and fantastical. I used Vintage Simplicity 9869 but just did one long rectangular skirt because I did not want mismatched squares. I didn’t add pockets so got this crazy idea to make this belt bag for my phone and trinkets. The dancer in me has always loved belt bags for their practicality on the dance floor. Don’t tell the rest of my closet, but this dress just shot up to number 1. My me-made challenge this year is less about making new things and more about wearing my overflowing closet. I made this dress when I was in a month long battle with vertigo, which is why my eyes are closed in the picture! 😂 At the time I didn’t have the energy to fix a few careless knicks so this dress has sat unironed and unloved in my closet for over a year. I really love it and find myself reaching for it a lot only to remember it was messed up. No longer! I took about 30 min (30 min!!!!) to take the waist up an inch and I think it looks even better. The shorter band of pink makes me look less long waisted.
