#AllsWellThatEndsWell I started this dress in July ... Did a toile for the bodice that didn't work out AT ALL.. But my sewing tutor Lore had THE idea how to still make it happen... In reverse chronological order Pics 1-3: the final dress, all hems bias taped in blue gingham bought on a 25m roll in 2018 Pic 4: bias tape hemming for neck-and sleeve hole #ShownWithEyesClosed Pic 5: un-biased - if you like it better "natural" without the bias tape additional colour I understand. But hemming a ~ 5m circumference skirt was NO option for me 😵‍💫😝 Pic 6: Lore and I happy that it (finally) all comes together Pic 7: snake-charming the 10 cm I took off the skirt - measured 4.7m long Pic 8: on the cutting table (cutting off most of the edge #kissntussing aka piecing) Pic 9: I am not 3m tall as the pattern Model is, skirt is Vogue #V1935 (I thought it looked like I was wearing a pillow case or bedding?) Pic 10: the bodice is New Look #K6184, view A The original bodice of the Vogue pattern must be made for D or E bust women... Lore guessed it as much and suggested making a toile which looked so awful and horrendous on my A-Cup body that I spare you the sight. She had the smart idea to use the New Look Bodice which had proven to be a winner (check my "Bathroom Olympics Equestrian Competition" post of August 9) Also, more importantly: the instructions how to put the skirt together are among the worst I AND Lore have EVER seen. Me in my meagre 8 years of sewing, she in her 40plus years as a professional dressmaker... how difficult can it be to label matching notches like aA, bB, cC etc????? Fabric is a cotton batiste by @gluecksmarie_hamburg Pattern bought at @schnittmusternet (my go-to German source for US and UK patterns) How this pattern is supposed to work with the recommended Popeline will forever remain a mystery to Lore and me. If this skirt can't be called OPULENT then I don't know what will...
