My #Vogue #V1834 robe in black rayon organza is finally finished! It’s technically a wearable toile for my silk, and I’m really glad I did this because the pattern hem is literally six inches too long for me! I haven’t altered the pattern itself yet, but I will when it’s time to make the silk robe, because I cut fabric as conservatively as I possibly can, and shortening everything six inches (might shorten the sleeves an inch or so too) will save me a ton of fabric! #sewing #garmentsewing #dressinggown

Finally used up the last of this polyester satin to make an extravagant/luxurious/loud?? pajama set. Now I won't feel like a slob when I'm lounging around in pajamas all weekend 😄 The pants and wrap blouse can be worn separately or together, as shown here (unwashed bedhead and all 😉) Pants are Vogue 1834 - shortened the rise by 1/2 inch - French seams & hand sewn hem Wrap blouse is Burdastyle 09/2018 120 - shortened the hem by 3 inches (removed the curved hem detail - I was working with fabric scraps, after all!) - removed the 2cm wide strip at the side seams, and incorporated that width into the front and back panels - shortened the shoulder seam by 1 inch - shawl collar facing, tie, and cuffs in contrast black polyester satin - French seams & hand sewn hem #vogue1834 #v1834 #burdastyle #burdastyle092018 #burda092018 #120burda092018 #loungewear

My entry for the #sewnwithvogue challenge by @minervadotcom is the #v1834 (the pattern was gifted by Minerva) I used a viscose satin from @rainbowfabrickilburn from my stash. Plus I’ve added the cute new #minervamaker labels from Minerva I found the instructions ok, but mainly because I have made very similar patterns before. I decided to omit the lace as I thought it would be more wearable for me. Finally finished my #Vogue #V1834 silk dressing robe with @silkbaron red silk charmeuse in “Ruby”. It’s not perfect. I should probably have hand-sewn the front edge, but I didn’t and I’m fine with that. Maybe one day I’ll put a little lace detail over it, or maybe I’ll leave it as a testament to my skill level at this point in time! Day 31 of #memademay! That’s a wrap, folks! Feels a bit auspicious to round out Me Made May with my thousandth post on this platform that I’ve been on for a decade. I’m wearing the slip dress that I wore under the poofy organza number from earlier this month with the backdrop of my proudest (read: most ambitious and time consuming) make from the last year! First, the dress: this is the Vogue #v1834 in silk double georgette in the shade called Regatta from @moodfabrics. I cut the slip a bit shorter than the pattern and rounded the V neck for a softer look. I followed @juliabobbin’s tip to swap out the neckline’s fusible interfacing with hand basted silk organza to help with the drape. I also extended the neckline facing to just below my bust to avoid seeing it through the main fabric. This is my first time sewing such a delicate fabric and the finished product is certainly not without flaws. Even though I edge stitched the facing, there’s still some flipping, particularly around the underarms and back. The rolled hem is also a bit messy and because I didn’t snip the first seams of my French seams close enough, there are areas where the frayed edges poke through to the right side. I likely won’t be picking up more fiddly fabrics anytime soon, but it was great practice and nice to slow down a bit! And now the quilt! I made this as a second wedding anniversary gift for @brotherjonrowe, which is traditionally cotton. This quilt is MASSIVE. It’s even a bit large for our king bed. I was inspired by a stunning quilt that @farmandfolk posted a while back, which had actually been inspired by an Urban Outfitters quilt. I muted the palette, especially with the background flying geese and HSTs, since I wanted something that felt more timeless than my previous quilts. I hand quilted this beast with over 460 feet (!!!) of sashiko thread and embroidered our wedding date on the bottom corner. The quilt top is done up in @artgalleryfabrics #agfpuresolids and bound in @robertkaufman essex yarned dyed linen/cotton from @fatquartershop. The backing fabric is the @alexiamarcelleabegg for @rubystarsociety cross weave from the #warpandweft collection. 💕#memademay2022

One last sewing project to round out 2022... Pajama pants made from two flannel pillowcases! My mom gifted me flannel sheets for Christmas and the set came with pillowcases that I wasn't going to use (flannel pillowcase + fine hair = untameable tangles). I unpicked the pillowcase seams and had just enough for #Vogue1834 minus 4.5 cm at the top - I added a waistband out of an old scrap of cotton to make up for the missing fabric. I tried a new technique for finishing off the waistband: there is an elastic all around the waistband, but two pieces of ribbon stitched to a portion of the elastic. The elastic was threaded through the CF buttonholes, stitched together, and then one of the ribbons was threaded out through one of the buttonholes. Day 7 of #memademay. Wedding bound! Vogue #v1723 and #v1834 in silk georgette and organza from @moodfabrics. I didn’t want a center seam down the front of the dress since it’s sheer, so I had to reduce some of the fullness of the skirt, maxing out the 45” width of fabric at the bottom. Also opted for a couple buttons at the back of the neck instead of the tie, shortened the mock neck, deepened the slit at the top back, and went with a length between the short and long view. #memademay2022

I needed a quick and easy project, so made my first pair of pajama pants! (I can't believe it took 10 years of sewing to make these lol) I used Vogue 1834 - a very flattering style that's slim at the hips and perfectly wide down the legs. I removed 1/2" from the crotch length as I'm short waisted. Omitted the lace trim and used French seams. Highly recommend this pattern!
