#v9347 I found this fabric in the clearance section and if it hadn’t been for a shoot I’m doing for a new collection of bright clutches @karmmehq I never would have looked twice at it, but I’m so glad I did. It’s so fun and I can see it being great with denim this winter. I cropped it a bit and did a magnetic closure rather than buttons. Memademay is nearing a close. I didn't make a pledge this year, but I did try to wear my memades as much as possible. There were many pieces that I have only worn once or twice so it has been really productive pushing myself to start reaching for these pieces again and try some new combos. I have found I definitely still need a few more plain basic pieces to facilitate some more wearing options for the items I have made. I picked up some fabric from the fabric store yesterday to start on some of these pieces already 🤎🤍 Here is my #memademay fit for yesterday. The first time I have worn my #v9347 jacket out an about - paired with my brown stripe shorts. A combo I never thought would go but I actually love it!

I already sew soft pink, I have other colors ready to use in my cabinet btw., because I could not stop myself from shoping fabrics in this design 🙂 I knew already I would use this fabric for some kind of coat with the beautiful sleeves pattern. And this was just perfect. The pattern is Very Easy Vogue v9347, so I started with model B. I also found it online in combination with lace, overstitched fabric and everything was very nice and interesting.. I was magnetized to the sleeves on this pattern but unsure about the collar, which i shortened by an inch or so (I don’t like it popped —except in @sew.zoh ‘s amazing jacket rendition🥰). I also took an inch or so off the center front panels and facings so that the overlap is narrower. She started with a small scale floral print (sorry, sold out) for her semi-fitted dress (Pattern #V8983 ). She added a wide tie waistband for shape and specialized the cuffed sleeves as well for a beautiful finished look. Perhaps one of our wildest fabrics, Diane took on our popular Italian digital “color story” knit (all color ways sold out now, sorry!) using #v9347 with some added inches to the length. The last piece is an improvisation on #v1678 made using a roll end and a coordinating striped cotton from her stash. Hello February! It’s time to take a look at the January makes. These are the things I made for myself during the last month. I also made a few things as gifts, but I don’t have pictures of them.. Picture 1: a red viscose #wildergown that I had planned for Christmas, but didn’t have time for. I love it! I hacked the neckline with elastic and I wear it with a leather belt. Picture 2: a washed linen #v9347 that I put a lining into. I took the picture before I put the buttons on it, but they are in now. Fabric from the lovely @kjolesenteret Picture 3: my first #toastersweater , and I am totally in love with this. It is so nice and warm, and I just snuggle up in it. I made in a petrol isoli from @selfmade_com Picture 4: My first #nikkotop , and I’ll be making more. This was made in a viscose jersey from @selfmade_com

My very first hat! I used the @twigandtale free Sunny Hat pattern. It came together swiftly and I was happy to use up oddly shaped fabric scraps. To press the seams, I laid the curves over a tennis ball. Does anyone else do that? Happy sewing Saturday! It is a gorgeous fall day here and my cold weather sewing mojo has kicked in! I am still gravitating toward more instant gratification shorter projects right now because that is all the bandwidth I have right now with a challenging teaching year. It is what it is! This easy #v9347 fits the bill. I made view A after checking out other versions online and liking that view to start. I have had this textured summer blue cotton brocade from @sewmuchfabric for a few years now waiting for inspiration to strike. I think I actually used the wrong side of this fabric at the fashion side, but I really like it anyways! I made a size small and there is still plenty of ease! I read other reviews that complained about the hem finish on the sleeves, so I made a self fabric facing on those so they are double sided. I was initially worried about making such large button holes to accommodate the button side they recommended. I consulted with my expert teacher @veronicabrackett and she suggested that the outer buttons be decorative and that I use clear under buttons to actually close the jacket. I have attached pics here. I also finished all seams with Hong Kong style finish using store bought bright red bias tape. I love the inside so so much :) Unfortunately with Chicago weather this coat isn’t so practical so I have only worn it once. Once spring rolls around I will bust it back out again! I am so overwhelmed by all of the love on this jacket. Could this sewing community be any more supportive?! 🌷🌷 I thought I would share some close up details. I have always been one to take shortcuts in the pursuit of finishing things quickly. This trait has been detrimental when it comes to my sewing and I have found myself in a creative therapy 😄🌱 I admire the patience I have seen some talented sewists have here and it has really inspired me to slow the f down and do things properly. Not only to achieve a good finish but to ensure the durability of the piece - otherwise what is the point to the pursuit of a more sustainable alternative. I exercised a lot of patience with this jacket but I still have a way to go.
