Hello everyone! Happy Sunday to you! Today, I am sharing a very nice two-piece lounge set that I made, with a third garment as a bonus - the top! 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 This set is in also in collaboration with my beautiful friend, Martika, of @martikajmakes , and she also made the same two-piece lounge set, but with different fabric! Martika and I have been wanting to collaborate, but we wanted to make something that was really needed in our wardrobes. Because of that, we decided to go with making a lounge set! However, this is not just your regular type of lounge set; this is ELEVATED!  💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 One pattern that we both had in our stash that we really liked and wanted to make was @simplicity_creative_group #Simplicity9857 , and that is what we made! To add to the set, I used a simple top pattern and whipped it up while attending the @sewroritywear retreat! Completed this 3 piece set from @simplicity_creative_group #s9857 in a rib knit from Joann Fabrics. It's an easy project. The sweater and pants were sized accurately for me, but the top ran large on me. I had to remove 2.5 inches from the straps and should sew the next size down next time. Still experimenting with different exercise designs. The best way to see how functional your pieces are is to use them. I love getting feedback from others, however the trial and error portion of creation is my favorite. Working to figure out what works and doesn’t isn’t always a straight path, but the feeling of getting it just right is the best. 🧘🏿‍♀️ I love the fabric, design and fit of the pants, however the waistband needs to be taken in a little as it has quite a bitch of stretch to it. Right now, they roll down a little; I like my pants fitted and secure. As for the top, the straps could be a tad shorter, cross-crossing in the back. The pattern called for elastic in the under-band (I didn’t add) so it doesn’t rise or scrunch under as you move. All changes will give the desired fit and security while working out, as you want to be in the zone and not distracted by adjusting your clothes. 🧘🏿‍♀️ Top- #s9857 Pants- #s8212

When I was about 9, I had a brown crinkle skirt. My grandma used to do all the washing and ironing, and she couldn't quite get her head around the idea someone would wear a deliberately crinkled garment. ⁣ ⁣ One day, the skirt went into the wash, crinkled, and came out crisply ironed. I refused to wear it. ⁣ ⁣ This one's for you, grandma! This shirt is made from crinkly olive cheesecloth from @spotlightstores It's @simplicity_creative_group 9857. I shortened the arm hole and sleeves as before, and also cropped the length. The fabric was challenging to work with - as the crinkles stretched out under the presser foot. Bear with me as I work on my 'camera' face. I had a fun time sewing this - the cotton was lovely to work with, and I enjoyed the small details that make this interesting but still straight forward. ⁣ ⁣ This is the first time I used the Palmer Pletsch flat pattern fitting method. It isn't a super fitted shirt, so the only adjustment I made was to reduce the armhole length by 1/2 inch. ⁣ ⁣ This shirt reminded me that I love making collars, there's something so magical about pushing out a sharp corner. ⁣ ⁣ I think I'll make another version with different sleeves. I am absolutely in love with this top. I  went on a thrifting adventure to almost all the shops in town last Friday and really lucked out at one shop. I got the 2 reference patterns and both gingham fabrics all at the first stop of the day and now a week later I have the statement top I never knew I needed. When I found the fabric and patterns I knew I needed to make my own Ganni inspired blouse since this pattern is basically just a 1990's version of their iconic peter pan blouse. For my  version I used @simplicity_creative_group #S8620 for the body and collar and #S9857 for the sleeve. I made a few adjustments to the pattern (some details are saved in my highlight for this project and more will come in a blog post soon!) but overall kept to the base pattern. The biggest change was adding the ruffle to the collar and switching the sleeve out for a more traditional pleated sleeve rather than the gathered sleeve on the #S8620 pattern. #s9857 @simplicitymccallsuk loungewear set ❤️with a small alteration in the pants. I cut the pants in size M and graded down to S below the hip but the pattern has generous ease for a looser fit so I still took in the width of the pant legs at the bottom by about and inch from the knee to ankle. I also changed the waist from 1" elastic to a plain 1.5" wide lowered waistband.🧵 The bralette needed no adjustments and was true to size.
