This is my entry for #sewyellowforendo2025 being kindly run by @sowhatifisew to highlight the debilitating condition of endometriosis (which one of my friends suffers from quite badly 😞). It’s in a yellow gold so hoping it fits the criteria 😊 Well I finally managed to finish this dress even though it took twice as long as it should have done due to my sewing machine threads constantly breaking or nesting 😡. Then yet another chest infection, (the fourth in 12 months), set me back for a couple of weeks😔. I used a really beautiful cotton lawn fabric from @abakhanfabrics and it was incredibly priced at 3 metres for £12 at the time of buying it. It's just the softest lawn I've ever used and is so comfy with a lovely drape. I made Vogue pattern number 2004 version B but with the short sleeves from version A. I didn't have quite enough fabric to add the frill at the bottom and I ran out of cotton lace to put round the waist but I don't think it matters. Luckily I already had the right zip and buttons so I could finish it off When I make it again I will definitely take in the top round the bust/shoulder blades. There's a lot of extra fabric that feels quite bulky and I think 5 inches of ease is too much. Finishing my cottage core dress, Vogue #V2004. Its been sitting on my desk for more than 4 months. Uggh! I have made so many changes to this pattern, here’s what happened: ✅Bought the pdf instead of the paper copy, bad idea , the 100 page document was so huge it took forever to print. Reading the tiny print was ridiculous, almost impossible. Very disappointed in this pattern from the start. ✅Pattern claimed “ Jessica McClintock” on the envelope. I can tell you if you google that designer, this style is not authentic just inspired by her work. Her original designs were very simple with basic bodices and set in sleeves. This pattern has raglan sleeves which are not my preference. So I used a blouse pattern for the bodice with set in sleeves instead. ✅ There are trims listen on the pattern envelope that aren’t called for in the pattern. This type of inconsistency irritates me. I used 2 different laces but the pattern direction only called for one. ✅I lengthened the bodice and omitted the waist yoke, did a simple gathered skirt instead of an A-line skirt like the pattern. I did use the pattern pocket so I guess that’s something.🤪 ✅I am using elastic loops for the button fasteners instead of fabric ones, its just easier. To hide the back of the loops and add modesty I added a button facing behind them. Stitching all in place by hand helps with control and getting the loops even. Almost finished! Vibrant Dopapine Inducing Handmade Dress: I’ve had a difficult couple of months with health issues and surgery and had to take a little break from sewing for a couple of weeks… but I’m getting my sewjo back again. My husband spotted this dress pattern in a Vogue ad in one of my sewing magazines; it’s rare for him to choose a pattern so I went for it. It’s one of the new season Vogue patterns the #v2004. I had this bright pink and blue viscose in my stash and bought matching guipure lace for the trim. The pattern called for more way lace than necessary, any ideas what to do with several meters of bright pink lace? 🤣 Had to adjust the sizing at the zipper as also came out large, and I lowered the waistline to sit at my natural waist yeah okay coming. I love the unique front detailing and collar, the 3/4 sleeves, and ruffle hem and of course the pockets. Wore it to a friend’s wedding last night and I felt a bit more like myself! 💖

As promised, progress photos of my Linens&Lace Dress, using #v2004. I'm currently working on the skirt and as of this afternoon have changed my mind about its style. Originally, I was going to go with two gathered tiers to make a midi-length somewhere between pattern Views A and B. However, there are several tray (tea) cloths that I want to incorporate, and their crochet lace borders and heavy embroidery are going to make gathering rather bulky. So, now I'm thinking of having just one gathered patchworked skirt piece. Well, here it finally is ... my #v2004 Linens&Lace Dress - off the Sewing Dummy and onto this dummy. 🤪😂 I have absolutely loved making this dress. It was always going to be a special project as it is made from linens given to me by Mum before she passed away. Some of them originally belonged to my grandma and great-grandmother. I've loved the challenge of repurposing these tray and tablecloths into a dress. 💗💛 Hey Ladies Dress💛💗 . I love to make something for an occasion, but with the intention to wear it again! I wanted to make a fun dress to wear to the @giggly.squad show when they came to Denver, I was in the mood for something different. Also, I had just bought these @dingo_1969 boots but had nothing to go with them. I was inspired by a yellow and pink dress by @dinigooseandbird that popped up when searching for ideas, and she wears cowboy boots with it! . V2004 is the pattern I settled on and I found this fun quilting cotton in two color ways at @treelotta. It's the "Hey Ladies" print by @iamrashidacolemanhale for Ruby Star Society. Even though it's quilting cotton, it's lightweight with a slight drape to it so it's not as stiff as other cottons can be and works well for garments. I made a mockup of the color layout on my computer before cutting, I've been doing this a lot lately and it really helps! Buttons and trim are from JoAnns. Lining is rayon from @lafinchfabrics_new a few years ago (yellow and purple Pauline dress). . I made view A in a size 12 and took 2.5" off both bottom tiers, to make it 5" shorter overall. I also shortened the lining by 5". I took 1/2" off the collar height but ended up folding over another 1/2" or so to the inside after sewing on the trim. . The initial construction was pretty quick but omg those gathered tiers had me in tears 😭 They took soooo long to sew the gather stitches, do the gathering, and then try to get it even all the way around. I love how they turned out though! . The fit was so perfect, I was expecting the waist to be a bit low because I'm on the shorter side but it was 👌🏼 Definitely one of my favorite makes! This dress is the direction I want my style to go, watch this space 👀 . Pattern: Vogue 2004 view A Size: 12 Mods: Shortened skirt 5", shortened collar height 1"-ish. Project update and story time: THIS IS NOWHERE NEAR BEING DONE. So right now it doesn't look like the masterpiece I have imagined it to be. The skirt is not attached to the bodice yet. I still need to do the waist band. That's tomorrow's project. I've been working on the skirt over the last couple days. Today the skirt is prepped and it's been pinned to Matilda (my dress form) so that the bias drops from the skirt hem and lining hem. Everything seems to lining up nicely but I'm not thrilled with the cuffs, I'll be fixing those. They don't look like the ones on the picture, really don't know what happened there. So I started this project about 2 weeks ago and haven't been able to work on it much. I've had a real bad week. I threw my back out last Sunday just putting my coffee cup down on the coffee table. I've had back issues for years but now I may have really messed it up. I have been diagnosed with SPONDYLOLISTHESIS. My L4 vertebrae has slipped its alignment with my L5 and it has caused my disk to slip 😕. This week has been mega painful. I'm off work for a bit, since I can only stand for a few min at a time. It caused my left foot to get tingly along with other symptoms. I got an MRI done today to see how much damage there is. Anyways because of all this, I haven't been able to sew very much this week. I've been moving between my sofa and my bed. I am hoping that I am a candidate for spinal fusion because I really need my life back. So that is my tale of woe.
