👀Four fabrics, six pieces for twelve mix and match looks. This was the pattern I sent my husband to Joann on their big sale day to purchase as soon as they opened. Not only was it on sale, it was advertised on the cover of their monthly ad as a #barbie thing. He was so cute when he said, “They had three of them in the drawer.” I’m SO lucky to have him. Work’s been so busy it took me a month to get this together and oh dear 🆘 the fit issues. I started pinning stretch stuff on my body before I sew because not only being three different sizes in the pant; different stretch fabrics have varying fits. The journey to this 2nd Renaissance Tour fit has been ummmmm, yeah….horrible. If you follow my stories, you know😩. But I finally decided on something when I stumbled upon this fabric this morning! I’m going to go ahead and err on the side of comfort this go round, so I needed something I could rock my Js with. Wish me luck on this little ditty. I’m making some tweaks here and there. #m8368 in single jersey And we can swiftly move on to a fail 🙄 A very frustrating sewing experience. Mental note: McCalls patterns do run big. For the top-my measurements put me in L, and I did make it accordingly. I already gave it away as it turned out to be a fucking tent. Second attempt, the top on the picture is S and still is not as snug as I would like, I prefer more support. Apart from the sizing, I get really bothered by lining that covers half of the cup, you can see the line. And the construction was not well thought, the inside does not have a pretty finish. For the bottoms-I made size L and had to cut out another waistband in M so they would somewhat fit. Still you can see all the bunching up fabric in the crotch area, it is way too loose. I had to cut off ~2"/5cm from the hem, I should have shortened them on the thigh level so I wouldn't have lost the volume in the bottom. There is too much fabric on the seams, and you can see it especially on the waistband, but I don't care enough to overlock it. I want to remake the set, but with the following mods: DIFFERENT PATTERN-bellbottoms but with a snug fit, preferably wider waistband and in lycra or a thicker jersey. I do like the colour though 💙 THE ONLY THING I LIKE. I'm loving the new Mccalls early spring pattern #M8368. I cut view D in a size large for the pants. I definitely could get away with cutting a medium. I love the high waistband, and the length and leg flare are perfect! The fabric I used was a floral double brushed knit from Joanns, my home away from home. For the top, I went with pattern #M8219 view A. I cut a size 14. This was so easy to make, I love it! I didn't really like the top options that came with the pattern. I cut view B, and basted it together. I feel it needs to be lined. It doesn't seem sturdy enough.
