My Double Valentino dress is finally complete! Vintage (1969) Vogue Couturier Design pattern, Valentino #v2063 made in a modern woven #valentino fabric (jacquard?) from @selectivefinefabrics. Silk-cotton lining (see previous post) from #wearethefabricstore. --- The skirt part has no side seams, only side darts. The CF and CB skirt seams are cut off-grain and I did my best to pattern match with the 1.5x1.2m single panel I bought. I topstitched most of the seams, and bias bound the neck facing and hem. Also converted the underlining to a lining and hand sewn to the dress. Narrowed bodice sides, shortened skirt at the waist, re-drew the sleeve caps and skirt darts. Thanks for all the love for my vintage 1969 #vogue2063 dress! I'm most impressed by it holding the bust shape on its own (swipe to see it on a hanger not mannequin). No cups or padding underneath, just bouncey fabric and curvy bodice seams. --- The instructions called for topstitching on the bodice front and pocket flaps only, but I extended them everywhere - side seams, back zipper, sleeve hems, skirt CF, CB seams and hem. The fabric (from @selectivefinefabrics ) doesn't press so topstitching helps to flatten the folds. --- I have collected many vintage patterns and designer ones - they are special to me not because of the branding but they are pieces of art, history, culture and created by the founding designer themselves.
