As you can see, I am very normal about Hello Kitty. THIS is the dress I've been wanting to make with #ME2021 since I got this fabric last July, and I can now cross it off my #makenine2025 list. Sorta, I plan on going back and making a bow for it with the contrasting fabric (The one I made originally was too big and didn't sit right) and a matching tote bag. I ended up doing the majority of the work on my the night before @musuemofplayroc 's anime themed 18+ night and with their recently opened Hello Kitty exhibit, and I knew I couldn't miss the opportunity to get the perfect outfit shots. (The overnight "con crunching" actually fits the theme pretty well 😄) Now that I have the fit down, #ME2021 has become one of my new favorite patterns, I've already have another fabric in mind for it. Fast auf den Tag genau ist es 3 Jahre her. Ungefähr zu der Zeit habe ich auch angefangen, die Fotos meiner ersten paar Shootings zu posten. Und sogar 3 Jahre später ist es manchen Leuten in meinem Umfeld immer noch ein Dorn im Auge. Mittlerweile stehe ich drüber, aber das war nicht immer einfach... Wer mich einigermaßen gut kennt, weiß, dass ich das aus bestimmten Gründen mache. Das gestärkte Selbstbewusstsein durch die Fotos im allgemeinen (nicht mal durch die Likes oder Komplimente) ist wohl der "Hauptgrund", abgesehen von meiner liebe zur (emotionaler) Kunst. Neue Bekanntschaften zu schließen und schöne Tage zu erleben, sich stark, unaufhaltsam und frei zu fühlen ist "nur" die Kirsche on top. Wer das nicht akzeptieren kann, hat weder auf dieser Seite noch in meinem Leben etwas verloren. Und ich bin froh, dass ich mittlerweile die Kraft dafür habe, das auch so durchzuziehen. ✨ ME2021 by Gwen Heng ✨ The Christmas party dress that missed the Christmas party! I absolutely love this pattern. As soon as I saw it, I wanted it and that’s exactly what I did. I knew it would be perfect for a party dress, however sickness stopped the sewing of the dress, as well as attending the party altogether. However, I was determined to finish it as the pattern is just delightful. A few things I have learnt along the way: 🐝 I will sew a smaller size next time as I had to take it in quite a bit which made the lining a real challenge. 🐝 Never, ever, wash sequinned material 🙄 🐝 Stick to materials you can actually iron as this eases the sewing process! I used a polyester cotton blend with elastic for the body which I used a ball point needle to sew with. The lining was a black satin and the sleeves were a chiffon, sewn with a microtex needle. I was about to get started on #me2021 when @Gertie18 released the #studyhalldress. Now I couldn’t resist ready-to-go cup sizes and pockets, so it was quickly decided that this would be the base for my dress. I took the shorter bishop sleeves from the #nightanddaydress and decided to keep the neckline and big bow from #knowme2021. But once it was all done, I liked the dress somewhat equally with or without the bow, and after calling in some opinions the outcome was still undecided. That is, until my brilliant partner came up with a solution bridging all divides: I could use the bow on my sun hat! 👒 This @verheestextiles x @neridahansenfabrics cotton sateen in crisp colbalt was one of those fabrics that led to love at first sight, and I’ve had these @Calzedonia tights for a few months now, waiting for this fabric to turn into a dress to wear them with. I’m really happy with how this turned out, all elements integrating into a fun, comfortable, airy dress 🎀

Hoping that by making something bright and colorful, maybe I can manifest spring and stop slipping on the ice. This winter has been hard for me, to say the least Not sure what to say other than you can tell things are tough when even your hobbies are being affected, but despite everything, I'm still sewing. I'm crossing off the first item on my #makenine list for this year, #me2021 by @gwenheng_ . I struggled a bit with the fit as it's a new pattern for me, but it's super satisfying to have it at a place where I'm happy with it. I’ve had this @tulapink giraffe print in my stash since October, and the colors just seemed too perfect for this style. I didn't have enough to make the sleeves out of the same print, but I'm really pleased with the contrasting purple with the printed cuffs. I also went in with some lime green hem tape to finish it off and give it that extra polish and a little more of a vintage flair. This is technically meant to be a test run for this pattern as I have another fabric I've been waiting to use for it for quite some time now. I'm hoping to finally make that one soon! I have been wanting to sew Stitch Witch’s Harlow dress for MONTHS 😍 I bought the pattern over the summer and even though it *still* isn’t long sleeve weather over here, I couldn’t wait any longer 😊 This was also my first time venturing out in the wild for self-photos since my college photography class. Not gonna lie, I felt pretty self-conscious lugging my tripod around town with all of the morning walkers and cars rolling off to work. I know that it’s silly — chances are, I’ll never meet any of these people and even if I do…who cares? But it still feels narcissistic and icky…even though it’s not actually any different from asking my husband take 80,000 photos of me 😜 Thankfully, the area around where I took this photos was pretty quiet and I felt protected by the pillars. Only one woman came by, walking her little Corgi, who she let me pet, then she told me I looked cute ☺️ I’m glad I pushed through, because I LOVE this dress so stinkin’ much!! The little bow in the front and batwing sleeves are such cute details and I actually had fun dancing around for these photos, trying to give my sleeves to moment they deserve (even though you can see my tripod shadow in all of them…whoops 😁) Although…does anyone else feel like there should be a disco ball in the background? 🕺 . Easter fit pics: sewing edition. While Gideon dressed from his wardrobe, I sewed new dresses for the girls and myself. For Anna I chose a Simplicity pattern that I had sewn for her before. It's a retro/reproduction that was released many years ago, #s3833. I had seen a post by @keechiibstyle featuring a jacket sewn from this cotton stretch sateen from #moodfabrics and I knew I had to add the fabric to my collection for Easter. I only ordered a yard and a half because I am accustomed to thrifting fabric. I think I spent $18. Martha's dress fabric was a score from a thrift shop. I had already chosen a vintage sheet for my dress and this piece was a perfect compliment. It is a vintage poly-cotton that was still attached to its original Woolworth's precut fabric label (swipe). The fabric was $6. Her pattern was new to me, #ME2021 #knowmepatterns. I followed a tutorial by @gwenheng_ to hack the bell sleeve by adding elastic to create a puff. Although it doesn't cover the whole roygbiv spectrum, it is pretty colorful, so I am still playing along on this final day of #wearhappycolor2024 with @katiekortmanart . #sewhappycolor #easterdress #sewingforgirls

I've had this beautiful light pink crinkled cotton fabric in the stash for a while and when my friend's hen's party came up, I knew it was the perfect time to whip this fabric out. Being a lightweight fabric, a pattern that was "bellowy" was what I was looking for. Using @gwenstella.made #knowmepatterns #ME2021 as a basis and the size 14 template, I created this beautiful dress. Making sure to keep these dramatic bishop sleeves as one of the main statements along with the removable bow at the back, I lengthened the dress and made the neckline square instead of the original sweetheart. I also had to adjust the shoulders since I have a shorter torso. I think next time, I'll adjust the sleeve length to help make it sit a bit better. Such a dream to wear out and the bow worked so well with the Christmas decorations that are out in the city.

Last dress made and worn in 2024! Me2021 is a pattern I have made twice and I love! The fabric was from sew Fisticated, I had bought it with no plan in mind but knowing it was a fun fabric. I lengthened the dress a bit and lined it jn cotton since the fabric is so thin. I love how fun this 70’s looking dress is with the full sleeves.
