Sewing isn’t necessarily the creative practice I reach for everyday, especially if I’m fitting it in between edits. A little neon pop for this classic white outfit Shirt: #m8210 Tshirt: @oldnavy Pants: #s3688 Shoes: @amazonfashion These pants are so easy to make and so flattering! But the star of this outfit is the classic button up shirt in bright green. This is actually a shacket pattern but I hacked it to be a shirt. I didn’t add any buttons and did not add the shirt front facing to make it a bit smaller.

Progress on #m8210 🥰. She is going to be soooooo cozy 🤗. But she’s also going to be a little longer than I would have liked. I held the pattern up before cutting and opted not to shorten it because it looked ok, but it had a more forward shoulder than I realized. 🫤 Taking a chunkier hem than the pattern calls for so hopefully that helps 🤞🏻. Now that it’s Spring, I better get my Winter projects posted. 😬. This is a wool oversize, unlined jacket. I’m wearing it on a downhill ski trip to Utah. I’m in Millcreek Canyon after a snowstorm. This jacket was perfect for the cold weather - so cozy! Details: Fabric is Deadstock Buffalo Check Recycled Wool Blend from @blackbirdfabrics . They sourced it from @anianmfg . I saw a similar jacket on their website and that tipped me over to make this. The buttons are Mother-of-Pearl 40L/25.5mm, BN2440 from @wawaksewing . Pattern is #mccalls8210 . I made smallest size (6), even though I would normally be size 12. I shortened the bodice by 3” and the sleeves by 1”. I realized I’m behind on sharing actual finished products, but tbh I’m also way behind on the finishing part. But to my ever-lasting delight, the yardage for the jacket I’m making (McCalls 8210) came out perfectly, with about a yard to spare. It’s massively oversized, so taking an inch off the fronts and back and removing a seam from the three-piece sleeve allows me to match the pattern. Started late and finished under the wire for #sewtogetherforwinter a challenge hosted by @sewinginspain @crafting_slovak and @sewsarahsmith I’ve had this thrifted wool since last winter and the idea for the coat since then too. I really wanted a vintage swing coat, and I was very specific about the design details. I couldn’t find a vintage paper pattern in my size ( printer needs repair) and so I did something I haven’t done in ages- I actually went to a fabric store and bought a pattern. I couldn’t find a swing coat there either but this pattern #m8210 fit my criteria in most ways. It had the collar I wanted and closure close to the neck , the oversized design, which I enhanced to give it a little swing by opening and widening the back pleat. I added two inches in length because have a long torso. The big mod was that I lined it with a thrifted quilt which was a bit of brain gymnastics since the facings were not really lining friendly. I dyed the lining - only 3 colours to choose from at my local store, where there was a full selection the week before! It was also sewn first using the plain side of the quilt but apparently that was poly cotton or some mix because it barely took the dye. It WILL have buttons ( imperative for the winter!) but I couldn’t find any suitable near me and have to find a day off to go farther afield. My inspiration all along was Tuppence Beresford in Agatha Christie’s 1950’s era Partners In Crime series ( Last photos) So of course I had to have a matching beret - the pattern #dropspattern #sidewalkartistberet knitted in my last bit of indigo dyed wool. Here’s my shacket sewn in a soft pink plaid, the Louise shacket fabric from @the_fabricclub. I used McCall 8210 for its lovely detail, especially the welt pockets and the pointed bands. I had to size down 3 sizes as the oversized cut was very generous. It’s now perfect for layering and to keep me warm and cozy with the changes in season. This make also accompanied me on my last camping trip of the summer. I forgot to post my McCalls #m8210 so here it is! I thrifted this wool for $7 and remnant lining for $3 - I’ve made 3 of these shackets and love them all. Mods - I lined this jacket and included 2 interior pockets for cellphone and wallet - I really don’t like the feel of my hands in my pockets with other things jangling around in there. I’d like to try extending the pattern to make it more of an oversized coat - I love this style but surprisingly don’t reach for it much. Happy pattern release day to the #jillwrapskirt !!! The one thing I really wanted to make this summer was a wrap skirt and with some help from the algorithm and @jessilous_closet / @evan.ihde brain child, it happened! 🧠 I made a size 6 throughout in cotton-poly linen blend that I picked up for $10. Next time I will widen the darts a smidge and want to try a shorter version 😏 With the holidays somewhat approaching I am thinking this is the perfect gift because it can be adjusted so easily. It’s already that time in #MeMadeMay2023 to start trying things I don’t reach for. The trousers are the first attempt at #millertrousers by #papertheorypatterns in a soft denim with a tiny bit of stretch. Very acceptable fit for a first go! I would need to try my usual adjustments to see if it will help. I think a linen fabric might work better. I cropped them to improve the look but that may not have been a win. Worn with my #lbpullover in Robert Kaufman herringbone flannel. My coat is McCalls 8210 in a deadstock wool. Details are on the grid. I wear this jacket quite a bit!
