Oh Snap! Last Christmas sewing project finished. Matching pajama shorts and tees for the girl and me. I used Simplicity 1504 and hacked them off into shorts. The pattern says they should fit 1” below the waist and let me tell you, they do not as drafted. I don’t know what kind of rise they drafted for but let’s just say I took about 4 inches total out of the rise for myself. I found a new use for the #s1504 pajama pattern! I made a vintage look mod style spring jacket. The outer shell is an old polyester-rayon corduroy type curtain. The lining is woven cotton. The buttons are from my MIL’s old button stash. I omitted the collar. Because the original pattern didn’t have a full lining, I had to figure that out as I went along. (I forgot to put interfacing on the facings so the bottom front corners don’t lay flat. 🤦🏼‍♀️) I did two patch pockets on the front, but also did side seam pockets. Because the buttons are so large, I couldn’t do a machined buttonhole, so I made bound buttonholes. I put the print upside down in the sleeve linings so when I fold the cuffs it’s right side up. Happy October! I made this one two years ago, but an old favorite is the glow in the dark ghost pants. These were PJ bottoms but Henry wore them to several Halloween events because the flannel was cozy and warm. I love this pattern, it is super easy and fast, a definite one night project that looks cute. I especially love that you don’t have to hem them and the piping is optional but looks so cute. #s1504 #simplicity

This matching linen pyjama set is the comfiest thing to sleep in! I embroidered a sleeping bun loaf on the pocket to complete the perfect pyjama vibes. That's probably my favourite detail followed by the flat bias piping. I made some alterations to the shirt pattern by shortening it, taking in the shoulders and creating a curved collar design. For the shorts the original pattern has elastic at the waist, but I altered it to have a drawstring. All the details are on my blog!
