I finished a sewing project 💪🎉🎉🎉🎉 To push my sewjo I wanted to make a quick little project. An apron! Only this wasn't a quick little sewing project 😂 but I persevered and now my sewjo is definitely on the mend! I was inspired to make this @simplicitymccallsuk @simplicity_creative_group 1940s apron by the lovely Angela @devon.threadtales and her beautiful daughter. They made a beautiful version of this #s1221 apron back in the beginning of last year. The fabric I used was an old bedsheet. I apparently am drawn to apron dresses as a layering piece. I had seen a cute one of corduroy with big buttons but, it alas was both ready to wear AND sold out. I went to my sketch pad and came to the conclusion that I wanted a darker color and less embellishment at the top. I then franken-patterned what I was thinking from a too small skirt pattern (originally a @simplicity_creative_group that was free with a magazine) and the top of an apron (also simplicity). Then I lengthen the top, made a new skirt facing, changed the curve of the skirt so it was more bell shaped, added a back vent, and lengthened the overall skirt at the bottom. Corduroy is very easy to work with, but does require extra vacuuming when done. It’s also great for windier and colder days. Anyway, yesterday was a cold miserable rainy day, and so I did some #brightsewing and finished a fun reversible apron which will be soon given to a friend. Swipe to see the fabric of the other side! This is the second time I've used Simplicity no.1221 (a vintage year 1944 reprint) and believe me - this ain't your ordinary apron. You will actually want to wear this one out because it really is that good...this pattern deserves a prize imo.
