Whew! I finished the jeans. This is KnowMe 2052 and I think this pattern is going to be a new favorite for me. I really like the fit and the style. As you can see, I changed the design a bit by adding 4” to the length. I also put elastic inside the back waistband. It’s time for the 2024 #BHMPatternDesigners challenge by @sewnaturaldane + @bhmpatterndesigners and I made @beautejadore @knowmepatterns #ME2052 pants in a mix of various #Ankara wax print fabrics from Kenya 🇰🇪 in the front + 100% black cotton shirting from @joann_stores here in the US 🇺🇸 in the back. 🪡 🧵 I used this as an opportunity to continue my 2024 challenge to complete my ufo’s: unfinished objects. The pants were repurposed from a failed vikisews Malika dress attempt. The top an upcycled top from Kenya, gifted by my Mom. I used the bodice of #ME2016 and modified the waist to cut straight across instead of the curve included in the pattern. Day 2: I got only four hours of sleep last night but here I am, rallying, in my slouchy wrinkled @knowmepatterns #ME2052 in striped poplin from the best in town, @stonemountainfabric. It’s really smooth and almost “sateen” like. Love the shape of this oversized shirt, and the cool double cuff detail was what won me over. @iwantmyglasses does this count as #ootdinthestacks? I hope so… #memademay2025

STATUS: current project: ME2052. BASE FABRIC: 100% cotton denim from my collection leftover from a previous project Several years ago. PATCH FABRICS: repurposed denims cut from several pairs of very old unwearable jeans. PATCH PROCESS: scrap denim, sewn wrong sides together to expose seams. Seam allowances pressed open & top stitched down the center with a “decorative stitch”. Scraps combined until large enough to cut the patch pattern piece from. *wasn’t sure how I felt about the initial “clean” look, but now ive started fraying I wonder if I should have left well enough alone…but here we are.* Once the large patch was adhered to the pant leg pattern piece, I began a combination of sashiko stitches, machine stitches, made up hand stitches in white (machine thread) cream & black dmc pearl floss & light blue crochet thread as those are the supplies I have on hand. SIDE FRONT PIECES: scrap denim has lycra, base denim does not. Chose to use base denim for side fronts for stability reasons (though I would have preferred the patch look) have machine stitched around the pocket openings and the side front panels. Will be at this a while. Plan to mimic front patches on the back and to include the back pockets. Thinking back yoke will mimic side fronts. Will see how the rest of the project unfolds. Didn’t toile so🤞they fit- the making process is much needed & beneficial to inner me regardless. ❤️♥️❤️

Alethia from @sewmuchtalent is such an inspiration to me with her #smtthriftyhash2024 challenge. I'm having so much fun 🧵🪡💃🏿trying to think of ways to create new garments from old ones. These shorts are from KnowMe Patterns #me2052, of the #simplicitypatterns group of patterns by Nikki Brooks @beautejadore. I made them into these grunge pants, which I saw on Pintrest. Celebrating Black History Month with another one of my favorite pattern designers, Nikki Brooks @beautejadore Spring is coming! I used Nikki’s shirt pattern #ME2052 to make a Shacket (a mix of a shirt and jacket). I added upper shacket pockets and lower slanted pockets. iI I’m super happy with the pattern matching and the pockets disappear into the fabric. The fabric is a yummy Burberry flannel from @nickoftimefabric. A similar shirt from Burberry will cost you over $700. Happy Sunday! I finished up my first #makenine2024 piece ⭐️ I chose to make the Know Me pattern 2052 oversized shirt as I am working on staples this year. Everyone needs a white oversized blouse and this pattern is a good one. I really love the double cuff detail on this shirt, it is a perfect addition. This button up shirt is becoming one of my favourites. The fabric is cupro, so very drapey. I've shortened the sleeves for my arms. The curved hems and double cuff details give it a little edge. #memade #me2052 #handmadestyle

Finally posting my version of the #ME2052 @knowmepatterns @simplicity_creative_group Designer: @beautejadore Took a while to post because I was hesitating on hem length. Roughly 3” was removed from bottom hem AFTER completion-hence the closeness of lower patch edges to the hemline. I was too eager to start piecing the patches and did not toile the pattern. All items on hand, base denim 100% cotton. Patches, pockets and belt loops taken from discarded unwearable jeans cut up for parts. Exposed seams, white contrasting thread for decorative machine stitching. Blue and cream crochet thread & DMC black pearl floss for some made up hand stitching patterns and some designs taken from The Ultimate Sashiko Source Book by Susan Briscoe for the patches and pockets. Would repeat this pattern, experimenting with other fabrics, embellishments and hem lengths. Made a size 10, removed a few inches at bottom hem. For reference my current measurements at the time were B:32.5” W:25”. H:34.5” Barely 5 feet tall. 🌸❤️🌸

The last day of #memademay2024 is a KnowMe pattern #me2052 by the fabulous @beautejadore in a pink striped cotton from @fabricmart worn with some stretchy pants for running errands after work then going to dinner. Day 39 of the #75hardstylechallenge is a new shirt fresh off the machine. Obsessed is not a strong enough word here....⁣ ⁣ This is #knowmepatterns #ME2052 by @beautejadore - I sized up one size to a 16 and cut this beauty in a lightweight cotton yarn dye shirting from @fabricmart ⁣ I used Ban Roll for the narrow hem, french seams at the side/underarm, flat felled seams at the shoulders, shell buttons, and the burrito method for the back yoke. ⁣ ⁣ Everything came together quickly, and I love the double cuff detail. When I make another I will interface only half of each cuff piece, because this got a little bulky with the two doubled cuffs. I was worried they’d be too stiff compared to the sleeve itself but it’s fine.⁣ ⁣ I can see this worn with jeans, knit pants, sweats, a skirt, it’s so versatile! I love the volume in the back when viewed from the side. Still scrap busting! 🧵🪡This week, I made 3 items. Made the very cool and stylish crop pant by @beautejadore #Knowmepatterns #ME2052. This make was very nice, the instructions were clear, I will definitely make these pants 👖 again in denim, probably. The main material is a soft brown corduroy. I serged a bunch of little scraps and sewed them on top of each other, then just cut out the pattern piece and sewed that to the pant. It was a fun make. Thank you, Nikki! I got so many compliments when I wore these out yesterday. 💃🏿 Then I made the #chelseahat by @fionahesford_sewgirl found on Etsy. This hat was so easy. I didn't even look at the instructions, but I did have to grade the hat bigger (For my enormous head, and all my dreads 💁🏿‍♀️) This is my favourite hat so far because of the shape and these are the colours I love ❤️ made out of corduroy and thick wool lining. ❄️ Lastly 🎄I made a simple skirt from a soft knit scrap material from the bin. I couldn't even tell you where I sourced it from. It's been in my bin forever. Pattern #S8982 @simplicity_creative_group Lovely pattern, easy, simple The waist elastic was supposed to go all around, but I thought it would look neater just to have it in the back, there's already two little darts in front.
