Here’s a throwback to the first outfit I ever made back in 2017. I knew absolutely nothing about sewing patterns, but my aunt walked me through the whole process to make this little number. I was inspired by a dress I found on @pinterest and had to make one for myself. We took @simplicity_creative_group #s1586 sewing pattern, then added a basic sleeve and lengthened it with side splits. I found the most beautiful brocade fabric to make the detailed trim @joann_stores, along with all the other materials I needed. ~ I had a lot of fun learning and sewing this piece, and once I got that down, it kind of took off from there. Pattern: @simplicitymccallsaustralia #s1586 , size 14, Option B Fabric: Wool blend from @backstreetbargains This is inspired by a Boden UK (?) shift dress I saw on Pinterest years ago and really liked. (I've found it and saved it to this post - last pic - but it really looks nothing the same 🤭) The stripes didn't line up as nicely as I'd hoped, and I only have a regular zipper foot, but aside from that I'm really happy with this! It's very flattering & I need to get a picture of it on. I'm quite behind with sharing my things on here. I was going to take the underarms in a bit as it was gaping, but when I tried it on again with a long sleeve merino top it was fine, so I decided not to as this is probably something I'll want to layer. I did the zip much earlier than I should have (if I'd stuck to the very excellent instructions), because I wanted to fit everything without having either a wide open back or being stabbed with pins I couldn't see! I kept waiting for repercussions but I got away with it ☺️ I finished the seams in red, obviously you can't tell when I'm wearing it but that's what that bit is at the base of the neck.
