Among recent sewing frustrations, I tried out this top. The envelope said fast AND easy and it was. Thank goodness. Butterick #b6455 made in about a day. Set in sleeves have been giving me gyp lately so took a break from that nonsense and calmed down with these raglan sleeves. 🤗 Fabric is some printed Rayon from spotties.

It took me longer than usual to finish this top. Some of you might remember, I started it the week of extreme heat. I love it, even if it expresses itself with lots of little wrinkles from everything. It will be a perfect top to wear with a cardigan as we transition to cooler temps. Now....to get those cardigans out of my head and onto the cutting table......they been hanging out inside my noggin for months! Top pattern is my fav, and quite altered, Butterick 6455. My second pair of #anntilleymagicpants came together perfectly. I made a XL, love the fit, tencel fabric from spotlight. Top is another butterick #b6455. I had to sacrifice a little length on the sleeves and bodice, but very pleased I squeezed it into this 1.1m of fabric I got in a clegs remnant sale about 10 years ago. It's some silky polyester.

I really love this top and have been pleasantly surprised by how well the fabric has held up. I still have a piece of this same crinkle rayon in my stash in a different pattern. Everything I made during my staycation! 6 tops, 1 skirt, 1 pants and 1 dress, all varying quality 🤣🤣 actually I mainly had issues with the tops with set in sleeves, still working on getting those right, fitting is hard! I made 3 #b6455 which took no time at all. Did not stick to my plan at all (garden dress and drafters grid will happen another time). Most of these projects were spontaneous brainwaves or jumped the queue. Overall I definitely see improvement in my finishes. The butterfly dress or skirt is my fave. Whipped up 🧵 another version of #b6455. The fabric is #thrifted and it is deceptively lightweight - which works well for this pattern. Although I had to piece together the sleeve ruffle to squeeze enough fabric out of the small cut. I somehow pulled it off with only a yard and a half 😅. I made another patchy version in blue a couple years ago - swipe thru if you’re interested - and in spite of the ruffles not being my typical style it gets a fair amount of wear. . This was an easy make although I sewed the bottom ruffle on backwards just to keep it interesting 🤣. . Other than having to redo the ruffle, this was a very satisfying project that made great use of some small cuts of fabric. Very good mirrors in the work elevator for selfies. Another butterick #b6455 in mystery silky polyester that's been in my stash forever. I get big a kick out of doing a bit of Tetris when cutting, second pic are the largest bits of the fabric I had left. Because of the small amount of fabric the bodice was short so I added a small ruffle. Sleeves are shorter than the 3/4 view. Such a great pattern and very forgiving of maybe less than accurate cutting 😂 I made a XL.

Whipped a new tunic out of my current favorite pattern, Butterick 6455. This is my 4th make of this pattern and I am nailing down the nuances, such as lowering the back for more ventilation and making the bodice smaller to fit me better, getting the elastic lengths right, and more. Repetition really is the path to excellent sewing and making what will become your favorite clothes. Love, love, love how Impression looks in a garment form.
