Delayed on sharing but finished up Simplicity Patterns #s9597 a few weeks ago! I modified the pattern to remove the buttons in the back and do a tie back instead. I also swapped the spaghetti straps for these ruffle straps instead (using a tutorial from @alissahthreads!). Fabric: Mint double Gauze @hobbylobby gifted from my friend @26bydayana I wanted to make the pants version of this, which I will later, but I didn’t have wide enough fabric this time around. This fabric is a dream on the skin and to sew with y’all. It’s light weight and airy. Honestly I don’t even remember it fraying. I wanted to do bows on the straps and back since I tend to enjoy the cuteness of them on my makes. I just had too 😱😱😱!! I love her!!! This fabric from @fabricmart is a rayon challis that kept taunting me from my stash…”use me! Use Me!!!” No regrets 🥰🥰 The drape and the flow are PERFECT!! AND… it’s got pockets❤️❤️ This is another #s9597 which is a @mimigstyle design from @simplicity_creative_group #cantstopwontstop Mods: 1) sorry but I just can’t do the whole original design with the open back, so I sewed together the back panels of the bodice. Then I copied the two front skirt panels to also be the two back skirt panels 🫶🏼 2) I doubled the straps (4 instead of 2) and just made them tie straps. Makes it easy to just attach straps and figure out the length of them later 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 sewing should be satisfying and make you happy, while achieving the same outcome. When life gives you @riflepaperco rayon with lemons, you have to make the most of it I’m obsessed with this #S9597 dress from @simplicity_creative_group and @mimigstyle I lengthened the bodice and added a lining to the skirt, but otherwise it’s mostly unchanged. I even kept in the pockets, which I don’t normally bother with, and made sure everyone knew about it. I finished it all with French seams and baby hems so it’s just as pretty inside as it is outside.

[SWIPE] Here’s a look at some of my favourite #MeMade outfits rocked in year 35‼️ A mix of old and new 😏 1. #s9550 that I hacked for my birthday look last year. I made it in this embroidered tulle that was oh so sexy. 2. #m8084 is an oldie but goodie. I made this dress for my gender reveal photoshoot in 2022. I’m so happy it fits my NOT-pregnant body in such a flattering way! I scored this fabric ages ago from @stylemakerfabrics 3. This dress is a knock off of #s9597. I couldn’t get my hands on the pattern fast enough, so I hacked a bodice and self drafted the rest of it to come close to Mimi’s dress😏 This fabric was from @moodfabrics 4. This is a sexy summer set. Probably more fitting for #hotgirlsummer!!! I hacked the @lovenotions tempo into this ruched crop top, and hacked the @chalkandnotch #cnevelyn for the skirt. Fabric was from @afriqueclothingstore and I LOVED the finished result. 5. This stunning number is #s9702 in the most beautiful @minervadotcom I spent time working on the fit of this and even though it’s boob-tastic it’s soooo pretty! 6. This outfit forced me to use alllllll of my creativity. I made this costume for my daughter’s book parade day at school. Is it obvious that she was Maleficent??? 7. Color blocking anyone? #M8339 is a fairly simple pattern to make despite how complex it looks. It definitely packed a punch, especially with this Pink and Purple combo! 8. This top is my version of couture!!! The detail in this pattern is MIND BOGGLING! It has tulle sandwiched in the neckline ruffle for that extra va va voom! I managed to squeeze it out of 3 yards of Ankara from Afrique Clothing Store. 9. The #sicilyslipdress by @sewing.masin is one of my most FAVOURITE makes E.V.E.R!!! If you haven’t made this pattern… WHAT are you waiting for? It’s just sooooo good! 10. This dress was the first and only maxi edition to my wardrobe for year 35. I used inspo from TEMU and recreated/ upgraded the look with this fantastic fabric from @abedsbarbados gifted to me by my dear friend @carrosi.sews paired with the #cadencedress by Love Notions! Sewing up MiMi G’s S9597 dress in the jumpsuit version. Surprise. This is made from 4 yards of red & white plaid seersucker fabric I received at a @seattlesewsmeetups roughly 2 summers ago. This is a size 14 and I think it’s the perfect size for me. I ended up siding down after making a muslin top and I am glad I did. I used fusible interfacing on the left back closure to create stability for where the “loops” are. Instead of fabric loops, I tried to be cheeky and use elastic to have a very low profile back closure. I cannot recommend this option; it didn’t really work. I learned today . . . lol. I sewed over it many many times thinking it was secure, however two loops pulled out immediately. Oops. So my aunt sent me a vintage bedsheet with the sweetest little pineapple pattern along the edge, and the pineapple is special to Charleston…so I knew this had to be a special dress. Me Made Day 4 is a tried & true The pattern is the #S9597 from @simplicity_creative_group by @mimigstyle and I’ve been able to perfect the fit of it over the last few makes. I also know exactly the kinds of fabric that feel the best with it. This particular fabric is a slubbed cotton lawn I purchased from @fabricmart that is light and airy and yet has enough weight to be drapey ❤️ The grand feature of this dress includes a rather large cut out in the back. Sadly, I don’t have the body I wish I had to keep the cut out…therefore, it had to go 🤷🏻‍♀️ * I sewed up the back bodice piece together instead of adding closures (imo, what sense does that make to have to struggle to reach back there?!) * The front top tier is different from the back top tier and made the bottom tier uneven at the hem. So I cut out the top tier front and also made it the back. That fixed it 👍🏼 * Lastly, I widened the straps a little. The skinny ones always seem to dig into my shoulders. Instantly this is now one of my fav makes.
