Happy #memademay2022! May is one of my absolute favorite months of the year for sewing, thanks to @sozoblog—it’s the best time to get inspired and creative and discover the many wonderfully talented sewists out there, just in time for the summer season! So my one and only customer ... AKA...my daughter 😂, needed a black dress. She was singing in the choir for an event at church. . . ‘Mom’, she says, ‘I have a lead part! Oh, and I need you to make me a dress’. When did you become a singer ? 😱😂😂 just kidding ! She definitely puts me to shame in the singing department 😂. . . Fortunately for her (more like for me ), I had this black stretch sateen in my stash. I also had a pattern I thought would be great and she liked it.. Score!! #sewphotohop Day 10: mistake! Listen, my family is sick of taking pictures of me. I had to coerce the seven year old into it and she did not care that she didn't get my head in the frame. So I worked hard on this dress and it took me forever. The skirt has box pleats and it's fully lined. But I don't think it's that flattering. The waist is too big, a mistake I make because I'm afraid of making the waist too small. The red in the fabric seemed too prominent when the dress was finished. I finished it over a year ago, but I've only worn it three times. I wore it today, and maybe it's not as bad as I think. I do get compliments on it when I wear it. So mistake? Salvageable mistake? Omg do you know just how much I love this dress?!?!? I love how flowy the skirt is, look at all them pleats!! I feel like a little girl wearing them spinning around and around, just to watch the skirt spin. Love it!! I did really well with matching the seams in this one. Look at the matching shoulder seams!!
