Here’s what she said about making it: “I took a leap faith and stepped out of my comfort zone into making this beautiful jumpsuit. I have been eyeing the pattern for the longest. The pattern is tall girl friendly seeing that I’m 5’9” and most pants don’t hit the floor for me. Oh, we had a time! 😃🍋 @dandywellington brought us to the lemon-filled @phdterrace rooftop Friday night for cocktails and jazz, followed by @bwaygatsby just a few blocks away. Everything on the rooftop was phenomenal, but I was blown away by the musical. The Great Gatsby might be my new Broadway favorite! Every set was stunning, and every performance got better and better. I pulled out my classic last-minute sewing to make this new dress - a super hacked version of Simplicity #S9945, which I made to have thinner straps and an open back. More details to come! Introducing my festy fit of dreams! I was super inspired by @fordandguy 's incredible organza jacket that I had to make one myself! I used their ruffle jacket pattern and lengthened it + added an extra ruffle to the sleeve. Organza is an interesting one to sew with as it feels like you're sewing with air yet its structure makes it easier to handle than you might think. If you're thinking of sewing with it, french seams are a must! I can confirm that wearing it is pure airy, ethereal bliss. To go underneath it I made the Simplicity #s9945 by @mimigstyle which made my jaw drop when it was first released. That deep V, that cut out back and sides 🤤🤌🏼 I was quite bold with this one and went straight in without a toile as the rise and bodice lengths seemed to correspond to my measurements pretty nicely. This did of course mean lots of adjustments to the final jumpsuit which is always a bit of a ball ache and reminded me why we make toiles, but anyway, you live and you (don't) learn! The main adjustments were reducing bulk around the princess seams which unfortunately I overdid a bit, causing the fabric to pull around the bust. Aside from this, I love the fit and as it's made in a stretch woven, I can pull it on without using the closures ✨ Re: grading, I graded from size 12 at the bust to between 12 and 14 at the waist. Both fabrics were bought from @woolcresttextiles which I visited for the first time a few months ago and was blown away by the choice, as well as the *very* reasonable prices. Comme il faisait très beau hier j'en ai vite profité, car le temps est incertain ici depuis quelques semaines ! Who’s that girl all in her @minervadotcom MINERVA EXCLUSIVE SHINGLE PATH LINEN VISCOSE. I took a leap faith and stepped out of my comfort zone into making this beautiful jumpsuit #s9945. I have been eyeing the pattern for the longest. It seemed difficult at first because of course I’m only use to making dresses with POPPINNNN colors. Aunty @mimigstyle would be so proud of me 😂 . The pattern is tall girl friendly seeing that I’m 5’9” and most pants don’t hit the floor for me. I did not make any adjustment’s to the length. I cut a size 18 but since becoming grown my top don’t match my bottom 😂, anyways instead of using button and loops, snaps was the way to go. The fabric was soft and even softer after washing it. The earth tones are hitting my complexion so well. It did not stretch and is suitable for dresses tops and even curtains 😜. I’m in love with this linen viscose. Thanks to @26bydayana she motivates me to just go out and do the dam thing.
