I finished the butterick b6318 1961 pattern mock up number 2 ( 1st 2 pics 🧡🩷) and mock up number 1 before adjustments is the 3rd pic made out of a duvet cover . Florals, for spring? Groundbreaking. 😉 Butterick #B6318 vintage reproduction, using a vintage floral tablecloth and bed sheet thrifted from my local Habitat for Humanity Restore. The pattern includes a zipper in the back of the bodice, which I skipped. I folded away the 5/8" seam allowance on my pattern piece and cut it on the fold, same with the back facing. I do have to take my glasses off, but the neckline does slip over my head just fine. 💖 The roomy waistline with ties for adjusting is a comfy dream for spoonie gut issues! 💖 I did not use the pattern pieces for the skirt, instead I just cut out two rectangles and gathered. I did have to piece together two different sized rectangles for the back panel, to cut around a vintage gravy stain. #FashionOnTheSofaFriday Is brought to you from insta b's "Chairdrobe" (greetings to @whendy7 😘), which is located in the bedroom. Pic 2: the original state of affairs and when I pushed away the famous Adiletten (no German male can live without them). The bedroom also hosts our wlan router on top of the wardrobe, hence the cable in the back Pic 3: wrapping the tie Pic 4: insta b's favourite tie-wrap Pic 5: "OK look" with the fabric side showing Pic 6: insta b's least famous ("looks like a Dirndl" 😵‍💫) [Overall the dress got an A- 🥳] Pic 7: #outtakes Pic 8: some #Kissntussing was needed for the tie due to lack of fabric (also the reason for use of purple lining to line the tie🤓) One should be careful when cutting loose threads => I had to redo the zipper anyways to get the stripes matched, so also moved it a bit sideways, too, to cover the damage... but: eventually achieved horizontal stripe-matching 🥳🥳 at Vneck, zipper & both bottom side seams! Pic 9: this dress is my third make in my #TheLibertyTanaLawnStashDiminishingProject and it's also my third #B6318 (greetings to @sunnydayz06 and her sister Di 😘), but the first where I hacked the neckline into a V! The first project was the Stokxflirtskit (see previous post). Number 2 was a #talfunnelnecktop by @theassemblylineshop for my mother - she loves it! Nr 4 is a near #so50fail.... this #talvneckcufftop is meant to he oversized, but I am not meant to wear oversized, I guess. It is shipped today to Augsburg, where it will hopefully fit Nicole @septemberfaden (it fits her colour scheme of spices 🤓). Two things on my sewing table at the moment. They are both butterick retro patterns from the 60s, but with the wide gathered skirt both got quite a 1950s feel. The first one is #b6242 slightly altered for the contrast at the bottom, the second one is #b6318, the pink tie will match the pink in the stars. #imagedescription 1. The final day of Cooly Rocks On, Day 5! @miss.sandydee convinced me to go out with a bang & wear the dress I was planning to wear to the dance (which I never made it to). . I made this dress back in 2021 to wear to a different dance which I also didn't make it to - that one was the mpunz after party 😅 There's a bit of a trend - I don't do late nights/evening things very well 🙃 . I used Butterick 6318 which was a 1961 reproduction pattern, ironically I now own the orignal true vintage pattern of it. I used some lovely brocade from my stash, technically it was meant to be the side with the stars being silver & the background black but I preferred it the other way. I edited the bodice by making it a bigger, wider scoop & shortened the sleeves. I found some black mesh with silver foil stars in my stash which I used to tie a big bow on my back, technically its meant to wrap around the waist but I found that just added bulk. . I wore a silver rhinestoned headband from @kmart.nz then borrowed Miss Sandy Dee's bag & bangle. The silver flat shoes were from my wardrobe. . Facings 😬 Growing up with well worn hand-me-downs or rough quality clothes from discount stores, I have always always hated clothing with facings. On this sewing journey, it has occurred to me 🤔💡 that perhaps what I hate is non-woven fusible interlining on facings that aren't understitched and tacked down properly. It's like a giant t shirt tag rubbing on my delicate EDS skin 😫 I fell madly in love vintage 1961 reproduction #butterickpatterns #B6318 and did a happy dance in the Restore when I found this lovely vintage floral tablecloth. It was meant to be! I couldn't figure out how to avoid a facing by bias binding this neckline, or by lining the whole bodice. So finally I caved and ordered some cotton *woven* interfacing and watched all the videos, read all the blogs on how to do this right. (The maroon fabric is an upcycled cotton bed sheet.) The bodice is complete! And the skirt would have been attached today except for that mysterious snafu with the gathering stitches. Ah well, it's coming along. Happy Easter! 🐇 I found this adorable vintage tablecloth ($6!) at #HabitatforHumanityRestore and immediately knew I had my Easter dress. The bodice is my favorite, #B6318 but I did change the neckline this time. Rather than the boat neck with facings, I made it a scoop neck and finished it with lavender bias binding, which I also picked up at the ReStore 10¢!!). The skirt was just the 2 biggest rectangles I could cut out after I centered the bunny on the bodice.
