Cranberry Twill vest (B6901) and pants (V9302). Totally cheated on the welt pockets of the vest because - ain’t nobody got time for that. Also, not a fan of the back zip so I might try the pants that come in B6901 instead of Vogue. I hate sewing pants and I now know FAR too much about the fitting intricacies of crotch curves. All-in-all it’s a fun look though. 👏 👏 👏 Proud of myself on this one. This was a bit of upcycling. These started life as a pair of maternity trousers my mum made me and she gave me the spare material, I like the material so wanted to reuse it. The pattern is #v9302 and I got it free with a sewing magazine. The construction was different to trousers I’ve made before and I’ve not added a zip like this before so it was a good learning experience. But they are far from perfect. I took the darts out so that they would fit but then ended up with too much at the front. This was an IG voted make. IG voters picked M6564 (OOP) and V9302 both made from a very light weight rayon/lycra suiting. V9302 pants. Removed 2” in length (prior to fabric cutting 😉) I’m barely 5 feet tall. Moved the C.B. Zip to the side following an Elfie Sews Youtube video tutorial. Still not a fan of invisible zip insertions, especially crossing over the waistband. Had some troubles due to my lacking technique. Created an inner snap tab for added security, its not pretty but it is functional. In future may consider stopping zips at the wastband and extending the waistband to include a button or bar & hook. First time doing a blind hem (not called for in the instructions) might be a smidge wonky but I think the flow of the pants hide any issues. I think I did ok on the hem length, not cropped pants surprise surprise. M6564 top (OOP) Pretty neckline, which was Incredibly Tricky for me to sew! I initially questioned your choice of sleeve lengths, Thank You, I think you picked well! 👍The gathers on the tie were satisfying to sew and are So Pretty. One tie is incorporated into a front dart. There is an inner tie to assist holding the fronts properly, however I may add a tiny snap at the cross over for added security. This is not my normal type of sewing. Lots of new experiences, there are imperfections. The fit might not be perfect, I tend to wear a far more relaxed styles, but I think this combo turned out very well. I know I shooouuuld finish at least one of these before I start a new pattern.. but Imma do what I do. 1. #M7740 is going slowly because I'm still practicing button holes 2. #V9302 only needs slip stitching in the waistband. Buuuut in an effort to keep from making a garment too tight, I've made this too loose in the hips and waist. And I need to raise the crotch. Putting it off bc it's mostly french seams 😣 3. #M7741 was a quick make but when I dozed for my desired fit I forgot to move the busy apex. Putting on my big girl-pants (as opposed to big-girl pants) today. I'm not entirely sold on these, which are Very Easy Vogue #v9302 , so we'll have to wait and see if they find a place in my day-to-day. The fabric was listed online as a "stretch bengaline suiting" and it has a significant nylon content, which makes for loud swishy noises when walking and it feels kind of like outdoor upholstery fabric. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I thought it was worth a shot!
