Vogue #V9029 view C - standard collar and cuff Multiple variations available with this pattern, bows and ties and ruffles at collar and cuff Peacock fabric end of ream from @spotlightstores with plain Prima Homespun Buttons from @spotlightstores but tread carefully since I found a completely unpunched one in my batch ☆Hacks:☆ ● Added 1" to waistline for long monkey torso, should have removed one in the sleeves for short t-rex arms ○ Frenched in sleeve ☆Lessons learned:☆ ● First shirt made ○ First sleeve frenched in ● First buttonholes ○ First continuous lap (stuffed it up when attaching the cuff, so will sort that out on the next one) ● Topstitching from underneath is never a good idea if you like clean lines (the colour I needed was in my bobbin and I was thrifting stuff from my stash so didn't want to buy more) ○ Used the wrong interfacing for this project - medium instead of light - so the button placket is a lot stiffer than it should be and doesn't sit as nicely as it would if it were a bit more flexible #memade #memadewardrobe #toiletilperfect #lessonslearned #vogue

I'm not sure what it is, the print selection (as in, for this style, the print itself I absolutely adore), the collar, the fact I stuffed up the cuffs AGAIN... it's something, maybe everything. I am preparing my third version of #v9029. When my first version was finished, I discovered that there is a big difference between my left and right shoulder width. In my second version I tried to solve this by taking out space from the shoulder at the sleeve inset, but that of course effected the arm scy. For this third time I mirrored the patternpieces and I am going to take out the extra space at the top of the Princess seams towards the bust. ~The Project of the Firsts~ ... is what I’m calling this dress 😂because there are so many “firsts” in this. I have been on and off sewing for many years now so this isn’t my first sewing project. But the thing is... I felt like whenever I make fashion clothes they just don’t fit me well (I know why now haha it’s because I just make the thing straight from the packet with no adjustments.) So for the longest time I was discouraged because I feel like I’m just wasting money on fabric. But late last year I was browsing the net and found some really nice fabrics and fabric stores I didn’t know existed until now and I was inspired to make stuffs! (Because the fabrics are so pretty!) And so I decided to have a real crack at this sewing thing again which brings me here to my project of the firsts where I tried out many new things for the first time. The “Firsts”: - this is the first time I actually read up on sewing books and patterns alterations. I need to shorten the waist, take in the shoulders etc because I’m petite. - first time making dramatic puffy sleeves. I read up on so many posts about how you can alter sleeves to change the shapes text - first time top stitching - first time making a stand collar - first time attaching lace - first time using a dress form - first time using the buttonhole function on my machine hahaha I feel like after so many “firsts” my sewing knowledge has increased dramatically from just this one project! I finally finished my second version of #v9029 . This gorgeous Liberty fabric is from @textielstad . Modifications: I shortened the sleeves and rounded the collar. Also I discovered that my left shoulder is about one inch less wide then my right shoulder, which explains why I always have one droopy shoulder. I tried to fix this by changing the armscy but next time I will take the extra room from the princess seam. #memademay Day 29 This three piece navy houndstooth suit has had a few rotations this month. Overall #memademay has reinforced my need for some handmade pants suits. That said the hero of this outfit is really the blouse. It is a #voguesewingpattern that is a princess line bodice with a few collar and sleeve variations.
