I just wanted to post this piece I made recently. I made a couple of red pieces to wear to my sister's temāzcalli ceremony and it's one of my proudest makes recently. All the hand stitches are hand stitched! Every seam is handled with care. That thing was pressed every 3 minutes! Catch me with my back out all summer. Slow sewing for the win! I do believe this is a good example of an intermediate sewing project depending on your fabric. I mostly say that bc of the hand sewing and the way I finished my seams. I may have made a set! #foxieboxies and #M8324 will the seersucker give off too much pyjamas vibes, I’m not sure yet. I know I want another pair of these shorts as pj’s so if so no biggie. The comfort level on the shorts is next level, I thought somehow the wide elastic waist would be uncomfortable but it’s the total opposite.

This is where my self drafting journey began. I made this #m8259 skirt and only had a little fabric to make my top with. I tried making #m8324 and that was a big fail! It didn’t fit right or give me the support or coverage I needed. At that point I had less than a yard of fabric left and went on a desperate hunt for a 2 or 3 piece pattern that would match the aesthetic of the skirt…..no such luck. So I decided it was time to draft my own. All I knew is that I wanted it to be backless, but with the option to wear a bra. I made 3 versions and changed a few things until I got here. I love it!! It gave me so much confidence that after I got the 2nd muslin right, I abandoned the project and started working on my “Blair Dress.” Anyway, it’s done now and I intend to wear this fit until it has holes! Ps. I LOVE ORANGE!!!! How did I do??

#M8324 in the making😍. With all I did today in the garden and running around for supplies… I still managed to cut this out and get at least one sleeve on. I even spent 20 minutes at least in the garage hunting for something to use as a lining for the back after I cut it out and realized I didn’t have enough left over to piece together the lining. I like it so far. I made a long pleated skirt last summer from this fabric. Making a high waist shirt would be cuter. Imma see if I can make that happen. 😉. The set | this morning I had the #M8324 top on without having sewn down the ties, as I suggested I might and there was a lot of movement in the fabric to the front, plus it rides up a wee bit. So this afternoon I sewed down the ties within the channel but now I see that I probs need to remove a little from the lower back or find another tie method all together as it’s sort of one of those tops you have to keep adjusting and I find that annoying. The #foxieboxies with the 4cm rise adjustment are perfection and I feel like I don’t need to ever look at another elasticated waistband short pattern again. Happy with the set so far and didn’t feel it’s giving off pyjama vibes. #diyootd

Truly can't tell me nothing! This ensemble is too cute. It's also some of the nicest fast sewing I've ever done. That being said, it's still nowhere near the speed for #GBSB challenges. I like to watch while I'm sewing and this pair of shorts would've made a great first challenge. They'd give em 4 or 5 hours to cut, iron, and sew. Took me a good 2 days at 4-5 hrs each day. First full day trial wear mainly wfh and a hairdresser appt, first one in 2.5 years so also put on eyeliner and mascara so hopefully when I looked in the mirror I’d feel good and would only be judging my hair. I think the ties need to be sewn down at the edges of the channel to stop fabric moving to the front but overall I felt pretty good. #M8324 pants #S1887 #diyootd
