Well it seems like this local landmark has been cropping up on my feed rather a lot recently, but I have never been! Righted that today with a walk up to Rylstone Cross and took in the incredible views over the valley. So thank you to the people who shared it on their feeds and inspired my walk. My mum always tells me I never seem to go anywhere without bumping into someone I know;today i was just passing the church when I heard my name and it was my godmother and her son, so nice to catch up. On the way back passing this again there was actually a small bird sat on the top of this making sad little chirps...was all ready to do my Dr Doolittle act and rescue him somehow but he took flight looking obviously fine 😆 also saw a small lizard! Too fast for me to get the camera on him though. What a stunning spot, and I'm always surprised that the Bolton Abbey estate comes this far over until I see it all laid out on a map. This route is going to me a new regular of mine

~𝓡𝓮𝓽𝓾𝓻𝓷 𝓸𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓪𝔀𝓴𝔀𝓪𝓻𝓭 𝓯𝓸𝓸𝓽 ~ Sometimes in the sewing community I'll see something and want it 𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙡𝙮. That was the case after seeing the beautiful dress as worn by @astridiwantyouinmylife and made by @daisybeenecklines. So as soon as @fabricgodmother restocked this amazing fabric I jumped at the opportunity to recreate it, and I don't think I'm the only one! 😂 I used the #burda6265 pattern (slowly overcoming my fear of commercial patterns), omitting the collar and shirred cuffs. Today was a day for a walking trip, back to gorgeous #Nidderdale. Parking up in Glasshouses (nobody living there was seen throwing any stones.....) we walked along the #B6265, past #LuptonBank and down into Pateley Bridge (see our post on Friday 7th August). Down the High Street, over the #RiverNidd and turning immediately right saw us on a pleasant path, past a playground and alongside the Riverside Caravan Park, with the river running to the right of us. We cut diagonally across a small meadow and follow the path which now runs alongside Foster Beck, a tributary of the Nidd. Across a farmyard (pausing to see how they wrap the bales of hay), we crossed the road and on to Grange Lane, where we paused to say a quick "hello" to Rosie the goat. Rosie was exceptionally friendly and was in mourning for her recently departed friend, Maude. This was according to a note posted by her small field. Turning left took us past both the Heathfield Caravan Park and the Westfield Caravan Park, before we climbed a rough, but pleasant track which eventually led down to a bridge over Foster Beck. Here we found the ruins of #ProsperousLeadMine, dating from the late 1700's. This was operating as a busy and lucrative enterprise for over 100 years, but apparently by 1904 it was in ruins. Note: At this location you are very close to The Coldstones Cut (see our post on 6th August 2020). Climbing up from the ruins we tracked back along the path, eventually crossing #FosterBeck again and back onto the road by Westfield Caravan Park. From this point we retraced our route, back through #PateleyBridge and back to #Glasshouses. We took our time on this and stopped on the way to call in at the @oldestsweetshop (a post on this gorgeous shop shortly) and also enjoy a picnic, so we were out for about 5 hours. The weather was fantastic - typical for North Yorkshire (!) and a great day was had by all! @nidderdaleuk @riverviewpateley @wildings_pateley_bridge

I made an outfit for an old Journey Girls doll my daughter doesn't care for anymore. This is Kelsey from circa 2012 I think. I used #butterick6265 view B and some scrap fabric. Daughter asked why I didn't make her a heart apron dress so they could be "twinsies" when I had already cut everything and finished the lined jacket. I had to apologize for not having that foresight to make a matching outfit for a doll she doesn't play with and no longer wanted. Now Kelsey sits on the couch in our "reading room". Not "library" because all the bookshelves are in another part of the house still. I had to take in quite a bit at the waist on the dress because these dolls seem to be much thinner than other 18" dolls. I took the sides in 2" to get it to fit nicely.
