I’m so happy with this faux leather silver midi skirt! It’s US pattern New Look #n6757 ✂️ It could have looked a bit frumpy in the wrong fabric but I’d seen a few silver midi skirts around that I was lusting after & this pattern was what I was looking for to re-create the garment I had in mind. Date night 2022 #1 My husband and I went to a date night comedy show event at our church @victoryatl , and it was amazing. We laughed, gained wisdom, and made new commitments to each other. The challenge from our pastor was to date more, talk more, and get to know each other better. Believe it or not, we grow and change in our way of thinking. Who you married however many years ago do not often stay the same over the years. That is why it is important to have good communication and spend quality time together. Honestly, my husband and I don’t go out much, and part of that is because we have kids and have no family near us to stay with them while we go out. The other reason is because we honestly don’t put in as much effort as we should. We have done better last year and this year so far, but we can definitely do better. That is why this #datenight2022 challenge is perfect for us. Our church challenged us to go on at least 20 dates in 2022 and Charles and I are up for the challenge. Two secrets (there’s more than two 😂) to a good marriage is consistently making the choice to stay committed (it’s a choice) and to never stop dating each other. The first time I laid my eyes on McCall’s #m8155 or also known as #brightonmccalls it literally screamed #bossbabe I mean I just instantly fell for the vest view. A simple look but definitely draws your attention in so many ways. The only thing I omitted was the lining for the bottom part because it caused really unflattering pulling. The fabric is stretch suiting in a Plum colour from @minervadotcom which was an absolute beauty to work with. Pressed and complied with me so good, I’m tempted to get more in numerous colours! 🌳 Eleanor, hobbit of The Shire. 🥔 Last night we saw "The Lord of the Rings, A Musical Tale" at the @thewatermilltheatre. A truly magical evening. The show is amazing, especially considering the size of the theatre (just 220 seats!). The incredible puppetry, a cast with talent to the end of their hairy toes, live music including surprise brass which made me burst into tears. First of three cries of the evening. The evening began with sun and food and drinks (it comes in pints!), and then the rain came. We had to move inside for the usual open air start, which broke my little hobbit heart but then the show ended outside and it filled my heart with complete joy. My sister said it was just like my wedding, which yeah, Bilbo's birthday was my main inspiration 🥰. And my outfit. Oh, I was thriving in my true form and loved seeing other audience members dressed up. All handmade. Cloak: fabric from scrapstore, pattern from alleycatscratch. Finished sewing this @mccallpatterncompany maxi blazer vest a few days ago and just got around to taking pictures lol. This is definitely a more intermediate pattern. My only real struggle was attaching the collar out of order since I forgot to attach it before the lining 😭. I’m happy with the look overall, however if I make another view I may adjust the fit in the chest area a little. The main fabric and peek a boo leopard lining are both from @fabricdotcom. I used shank buttons to complete the look..somehow I managed to attach them a wee bit too loose. Can't believe it's actually 2022! I know its been awhile since I posted, but I promise this year I will be more organized in sharing my makes. So, to start the sewing year off right, fresh on the cutting table, first make of 2022 is ......(drumroll!🥁) #M8155 view B! A fitted notch collar jacket with a peplum oh and buttons, 6 of them.😕 I usually shy away from doing buttons, but I'm going to put my best foot forward and try it anyway. (Btw I believe there are only 2 real working buttons on this jacket.) I'm going for a real trendy fuschia color with a fun floral lining with gold buttons (from #Joanns). Both fabrics are cotton and are from #hobbylobby. I scored the fuschia fabric for only $3/yd and ended up buying 6 yards of it. I want to make a suit with it by adding a pair of pants and a skirt.
