So here’s some unflattering pics of me. I’m trying to fit Vogue V9264 to me. I fall into pattern measurements 14 upper chest, 16 full bust, 18 waist and 14 hips. So I bought the larger of the two pattern sizes after being told that vogue patterns tend to come up small. Well, I’ve taken this dress back to a straight 14 (with slightly enlarged waist). I’ve taken 3/4” height out of the upper back bodice, 1 & 1/4” out of the front upper bodice. I’ve taken accordingly out of the sleeve head too. I lengthened the waist point to counteract the reduction in the bodice height. But I fear the whole upper body is too big? Am I going to have to bite the bullet and buy the smaller pattern block. This is another hacked Vogue 9264 #v9264 I started it months ago straight after I successfully made my test version and updated the pattern. The problem, however, was when it was made up, it just didn't fit. The whole bodice swamped me and I can only think it was due to a different fabric being used. It was a ponte from my stash without as much stretch as the test fabric and it just wasn't very forgiving. The dress sat in my UnFinished Objects pile waiting....until I finally took the hours to cut it apart and alter the offending areas!!! Changes made - I again hacked the bottom into a more tulip shape. - I cut a lot out the upper bust area and took it in around the princess seams so I didn't looked so swamped - I gathered the sleeves heads and cut some bulk out of them as the fabric was too rigid for the pleats- it gave me massive shoulders otherwise!! - Finally I cut it short but unfortunately a little too short. Luckily thick black tights sort that problem out! Wore it to work yesterday and loved it! This is Vogue 9264 #v9264 Well at least it started off that way before being hacked! I bought the Vogue pattern last week in the half price sale from @minervadotcom The fabric was a ponte from my stash without as much stretch as the pattern suggests but I went ahead anyway and it was fine! I loved the top of the dress but wasn't so keen on it flaring out so I thought I would make a toile in a remnant fabric and see if I could hack the bottom into a more tulip shape. I started by cutting a size 14 which is my "Big 4"size despite the packet suggesting otherwise! I am not really sure why the measurement and size suggestions clearly don't match the finished garment picture on the front of the packet! It would have been HUGE otherwise and not the slim fit it shows on the picture! Oh well! It came together very quickly and easily and then I went about chopping and sewing the skirt to give me the shape that I wanted. I also had to take in the top a bit but it was very easy to do along the princess seams. Once I had finished, I unpicked the whole dress and traced the new pieces onto the original pattern and used it as a template to re-cut the pattern pieces ready for next time! Then I sewed it back up again! It doesn't have long sleeves as I didn't have enough fabric but today I wore it with a long sleeved thermal underneath! The puff sleeve design looks fab! This Vogue #V9264 was so fast and fun to make! I had to take the waist and lower back way in to fit the way I wanted it to – but princess seams make that super easy to do, and knit is a very forgiving fabric for that alteration 👍🧵 I made a slight adjustment to the sleeve, which was designed to have both gathers at the shoulder as well as a center pleat. This is another version of #voguev9264 that was sitting there unfinished for over 3 weeks waiting for me to stop being ill. I’m quite pleased with this one. It doesn’t look a thing like it did in my head when I was planning it, but it’s massively growing on me. Fabric is from @maggiesfabricslondon I totally love the colour and the pattern but in hindsight I’d have ideally used a slightly heavier jersey to make this. Christmas dress alert!!!! This is #voguepatterns #v9264 in a drapey viscose jersey from @stitch_fabric1. Cut out according to my measurements and had to take it in a good 3-4 inches. I don’t remember vogue patterns of my youth coming up so massive. Easy to make though and the sleeve (which I’ll try to get a pic of) is lovely and worth the 400 tailor tacks. Feels super glamorous although my daughter said I look like a nun (which bodes ill for gcse religion). Better almost late than never! Here’s my make for the #SewnWithVogue challenge over at @minervadotcom The pattern was provided in exchange for a #minervabrandambassador post. I sewed up the Vogue #V9264 dress in a knit fabric I purchased from @fashion_fabrics_club I haven't sewn many Vogue patterns, but I do have a few thoughts on this one. Let's dig into it. First, I'll acknowledge that I probably cut the wrong size. I cut a 22, and It was just a smidge too big all over. I took in the princess seams and the sleeves by about 1/4" and that solved that problem. Although, after doing so, the sleeves seem to want to twist a bit toward the bottom. I don't know if that's a consequence of my fitting on the fly, or if they would do that anyway. The only other snag I ran into with this pattern is the instructions for the pleating and gathers at the top of the sleeves. I followed the markings and instructions and ended up with way more fabric than I should have. I re-checked the markings from the pattern against the instructions and I believe I did it correctly. I think a larger area of the sleeve is meant to be gathered and the instructions are unclear on that. That's what I ended up doing to fix my problem and it worked well. I have to say, at least in the fabric I used, the pleat doesn't really change the shape much. I wish I had just gathered the whole thing and saved myself a bit of time and trouble. Other than the confusing sleeve issue, this really is an easy pattern to make, and it turned out great in the end! Hi there! A couple of stretchy, travel friendly dresses perfect for the small suitcase, weekend getaway occasion. These are both viscose dresses that can be easily rolled up and squished into the spaces between the anti aging creams and thermal tights. The first one is the #voguepatterns #v9264 and the second is an adapted version of the #v8825 top, and I just made the straight skirt into a flared skirt. I have made the v9264 a number of times now and is a firm favourite. The V8825 I’ve also made up twice before, of which I’d made a top from a ponte knit and I wear a lot, so I knew it should work well. Easy to sew up on an overlocker too.
