Vogue Cette robe je l'ai rêvée depuis 2 ans, peut-être même 3. J'avais acheté le patron chez @mercerie_rascol mais je voulais absolument la coudre dans un tissu rayé pour lui donner un style croisière, balade à Deauville, tout ça, tout ça... Vous voyez ? Mais il n'est pas facile de trouver un tissu avec des rayures ayant la bonne largeur. J'ai fini par trouver mon bonheur avec ce crêpe de chez @marseilletextiles Le #v9259 est en fait un patron de combi pantalon de chez Vogue mais je l'ai transformé en robe en utilisant le bas de la robe New Look que j'avais cousue l'an dernier. Pour ce patron, j'ai cousu la taille 10 qui correspond plutôt bien à mon 36 avec un petit bémol pour la ceinture dont la longueur une fois coupée ne correspondait pas à ce qui était indiqué dans le tableau. Il s'agit peut-être d'une erreur de ma part. Mais à cause de ça, j'ai été limite en tissu et j'ai eu une petite frayeur... Attention si tu es tentée par ce modèle, les marges de couture sont de 1.5 cm. J'ai également doublé le corsage, ce qui n'était pas prévu dans le patron. Finalement ça ne m'a pas demandé plus de travail et c'est bien mieux fini comme ça ! Elle est plutôt facile à réaliser, le seul point technique étant la pose du zip invisible. Vous avez sûrement vu passer la robe de chez Sézane qui a un corsage croisé devant ? Ce patron est une bonne base pour un petit #hacksezane , vous ne trouvez pas ? Here's my favourite 9 makes of 2023 🥳 This year has just flown by so quickly!! I had such a good *extended* birthday this year. I’m honestly so happy and touched❤️. It has been a long time since I’ve made any plans of substance, have gotten my hopes up for any kind of holiday or special occasion like this at all, but especially one that’s supposed to be about me in this way. It had always been so disappointing (or tbh horrible on some occasions) that I’d just stopped and become quite cynical. But I had encouragement to invite some lovely people to come out to the islands on the Friday preceding my real birthday this past week for @babytaykaraoke at @theupperdecktim and I’m so happy so many of my lovelies showed up and had fun despite the rain. @manfilice conspired to have @tvylorwhittvker get everyone to sing for me after I did my little John Denver ‘Country Roads’ rendition (also a request from Andrew specifically😏). We had drinks with more friends on official birthday day and then had the best oyster dinner at @islandoysters on Saturday, and had some fun at the @letsgototheex tonight. I had also planned to finish this funky jumpsuit (pattern is vogue patterns #v9259) from the paintbrush fabric I picked up from Portugal for my actual birthday plans but time got away from me so I only finished it for tonight. It still counts okay! Plus these amazing giant floral earrings were my pre chosen gift from @manfilice and came courtesy of the oh so lovely and talented hands of @anamcreations.ca. ✨ V O G U E 9 2 5 9 ✨ Day 8 of #100DaysOfSewingPants My first finished pants - admittedly this started as a jumpsuit a few weeks ago so I did get a head start! Sadly the jumpsuit was way too short in the torso - and it simply wasn’t a good fit around the bust. Like others (having read all the posts & blogs) I found the bodice gaped hugely and would have required a 2” dart to resolve!! Anyway - the pants are GREAT. The straight waistband isn’t great for my body shape, but I slid in a 4cm elastic before inserting the zipper and it fits perfectly. I used the full 4cm hem - if you’re shorter than 5’8” (my height) you’d need more of an adjustment. The fabric is the Warlukurlangu Vaughan Springs Dreaming rayon from @spotlightstores

When I saw this pattern a pink gingham playsuit quickly came to mind. Made with cotton twill fabric from @Hobbylobby I had in my stash. Did not make a a muslin, therefore had to add darts to the sides for fit. The crutch sits too high, next time I make it, will adjust for height as well. The shoes are my own diy miles. I’m awful at documenting my makes but I had an especially productive year. My goal was two makes a month and most months I exceeded that by quite a bit, even while being in school. Some highlights were the #proteapants, of which I’ve made five or six pairs this year (two for other people, including a man!) and the corset dress by @nordic_seam. Excited to share a project I’ve been working on since last July!! @hillandblunt asked me to sew a romper as the basis of her wedding outfit, and I nervously agreed to take a whirl! There were some challenges along the way, both expected and unexpected, since I’m an intermediate sewist: making fitting adjustments with half a country between us (and 5 drafts), working with white fabric and a lining, tracking down online resources to level up my sewing skills, and keeping cat hair off the finished garment, to name a few! But love how it turned out and honored to have been part of Hillary’s special day. Planning to share more photos of the final ensemble, but here’s a start! Initial pattern: #v9259 , exterior fabric viscose crepe. Mods by me: redrafting the bodice to run straight up + using fancier finishing techniques throughout (finishing the bodice with hand sewed bias tape instead of a hem, underlining garment, invisible zipper at the back, etc). Additional mods by the tailor: changing closure at neck to hook and eye instead of ties + adding cups, boning, and a keyhole in the bodice for more stability.

20 years ago, I fell in L💛VE with Carnival in 🇹🇹 so when my birthday falls during Carnival time, that makes it even more special!! This year, with my Golden Birthday on Ash Wednesday, I *had* to be there! Gold Halter Jumpsuit #V9259 with a sheer metallic from my stash for Soca Brainwash. How fitting that the theme for my 1st SBW was "Happy Burthday"! I had a blast celebrating with a few THOUSAND of my friends and dem! 2. Ankara 2-piece set inspired by vintage @diyanu with a self-drafted circle tank top using Karen Guinn's templates (super easy!) and #NL6290 shorts edited down a 1" inseam for Vale Vibe #IYKYK 😜 3. Chartreuse Linen set inspired by a set seen on at least 3 different online sites 🤦🏾‍♀️ for Tribe Ignite. I loved that I was able to recreate the same look with a much better quality *breathable* fabric, perfect for fetein' 4. Nia Top from @sewcreativelounge with one of their prints that'd been waiting in my stash for this very moment! She was the perfect pairing for Machel Montano's EPIC 1 Show with Wizkid and about 40 soca artistes! 5. Sew Creative Lounge's Sheba Dress in an orange & yellow Ghanian batik (also #sewcreativeloungefabric) for my birthday! She was so flirty and fun, perfect for dinner that nite with fRamily 🥰 6. Kimono cover up from a #sipandsewdc perfect for the Ash Wednesday / Birthday Cool Down at Maracas Bay Bonus Lewk: all I did was cut up the tee @muddersinternational gave me but I love this pic so much, I had to throw it in 🙌🏾 Next year's challenge..... Truly can't tell me nothing! This ensemble is too cute. It's also some of the nicest fast sewing I've ever done. That being said, it's still nowhere near the speed for #GBSB challenges. I like to watch while I'm sewing and this pair of shorts would've made a great first challenge. They'd give em 4 or 5 hours to cut, iron, and sew. Took me a good 2 days at 4-5 hrs each day. In honor of the Barbie movie premiere… Oodles of years ago, my dad travelled a lot for work. At that age, dad going away meant new Barbie loot. On one trip, he brought home the Barbie Fashion Designer’s Software and it’s paper for me to design and print my own clothes for my Barbies.
