In the closing days of #worktober I’m squeaking in with a new favorite — the #v2045 in this gorgeous wool-viscose blend from #fabricitysg . Don’t you just love the little flap detailing and all those delicious darts?
The fabric is a luxurious Super 140’s wool blend that feels absolutely silky and sews like a dream. I pounced on the coral colorway shot through with pale blue threads. It’s fully lined in a dark blue acetate, which gives it additional structure.
You know that sheath dresses are my jam for work. In fact, there’s a particular Jason Wu sheath dress that is my holy grail to recreate because I’m afraid it will wear out, I put it on so often. I think this Vogue pattern comes close to emulating it. It’s structured and smart, but actually has a decent amount of ease because of the diamond-shaped darts, and has enough detailing to add interest to an otherwise-basic silhouette.
Speaking of those darts…if you think of each diamond dart as the equivalent of two darts, there are 22 darts in the shell and 22 in the lining. 😵💫 Two of those darts are extra ones I had to put in after making the toile. I was a little nervous but the “Pattern Fitting with Confidence” guide by Nancy Zieman did not let me down. 👌
