Me Made May Day 3! My old trusty @maisonfauve Belem pants. These are up there with my favorite pants patterns now, I’ve made them at least three times. The belt loops are cool, the elastic back is comfy as hell, and they’re perfect for office work. Modifications are described in a highlight reel on my profile if you’re interested in this pattern! Following @tartan_tarlatan’s #okaymemademay prompt today for a fit with secondhand fabric, these pants are made of an old 70s polyester corduroy from a sewist who was giving up the hobby and getting rid of their stash. This is a shirt I made for my mom @mrs_tlc_87 back in September. I made it for her because she was complaining that she needed a new shirt for vacations. I had rushed it a little to get it done by mid September for my dad's 60th birthday trip. . . It is the same vogue pattern I used for my sister's top (Vogue V8772) . I have to fix the button placement for her but other than that the top fits nicely. The collar came out near perfectly and I did flat felled seams to reduce fraying. This pattern is very slowly becoming a T&T. . . It is made with deadstock fabric from @_sewbysew_ and is a rayon challis fabric. (They still have a mint and orange one on their website. Very mod. Very cute.) I got it in a mystery bundle back in the spring and had no clue what to make with it. Now my mom got a new top. Just a couple of tried and true patterns for a comfy co-ord set: button-up is #V8772 (view D) and wide-leg trousers are #B6750 (view D). ▪️ I’ve made both before and will absolutely make both again. I love how they mix & match with a vast swath of my wardrobe and the way they fit (particularly the elastic waisted-pants). I haven't done much sewing (or knitting) of late. But I did make these 2 blouses. The first is a #V8772 in a lovely viscose remnant from #lamazi I was going to wear it to Chelsea but then the weather turned & a jumper was the better option! The second is a #SAClaytonWovenShirt in a beautifully soft linen/cotton from #rainbowfabrics A delight to sew and to wear. On the woolly front I'm busy frogging my disastrous Oa Hoodie which I know I will never wear. Hopefully I'll be able to turn the remnants into something that fits 🤞

A little late but hopefully I’ll sneak in 😉 This is my #sewfrugal25 make, the pattern is a hacked #rosalieshirtdress from @moodfabrics . Thank you Ruan and Sam (@theyorkshiresewgirl and @frugalisama ) as always for my favourite challenge of the year!The fabric was bought at the Ally Pally on a flying visit to the K&S show last year, and has squatted in my stash since. It’s some kind of viscose but I cannot recall the stand I got it from. 😣 Adjustments/hacks: -The pattern is a bit oversized so I sized down 3 sizes and went by finished garment measurements. It fits beautifully. -moved bust darts -used the collar pattern pieces from a vogue pattern #v8772 - lengthened the sleeves and added elastic cuffs -Lengthened the dress by about 10 inches 😮 -narrowed the tie belt due to lack of fabric -sway back adjustment of about 2”! Squeaking in one last project for #MeMadeMay2025! I initially bought this fabric intending to use it as a lining, but I was so smitten with it I couldn’t dare relegate it to just be seen occasionally inside a coat. I do have some yardage leftover, however, so I’m mulling over if I should save that for its original purpose or do something else with it. ▪️ The pattern is the top half of #B6522. I’ve made this before so no further mods were made other than I shortened the sleeves by an inch, added cuffs from #V8772, and since it’s a bodysuit with no stretch, I added a 2” band of ease to join the blouse and the lower half. The black fabric was a former knit top I was going to donate, but figured this was a better use for it. I traced a RTW bodysuit I had to get the pattern and am pleased with how it turned out: it’s comfortable and doesn’t pull when I move. Here’s a bit of behind-the-scenes on my recent floral set! To dye my bright white fabric a beautiful Sky Blue color, I used a combo of @ritdye for Synthetics in colors Kentucky Sky and Sapphire Blue. The color turned out EXACTLY like I wanted, but the heat of the water permanently wrinkled the polyester organza, unfortunately. The price of using cheaper quality fabric! After finalizing my dress pattern, I used a combination of several patterns (@gertie18 ‘s #b6143 and Vogue #v8772 ) along with many modifications to achieve the look that I wanted. I used mostly French seams through the garment, but did utilize my serger on the skirt for some inner seams. I also used the burrito method to completely enclose the opaque portion of the top lining as well for a more professional finish! Overall, I’m very happy with how it turned out! 💙

To post or not to post was the question of the morning. I sewed up Vogue 8772 in a chiffon fabric picked up at my local Joann fabrics along with this gray sweater knit . I have been wanting to sew a pussy bow blouse for a while and decided to give it a try. The pattern is fantastic and a great fit but the fabric choice looks a bit matronly. Perhaps in a satin for the holidays?? I will definitely be making a collar version because the fit is perfection. The sweater knit cardigan is McCall 7476 and I know it will get a lot of wear. Not a total fail however not how I saw this in my head! That’s another #V8772 on the books, this time in a thrifted duvet cover in 100% cotton. I initially made a different blouse with the material and absolutely loathed how it turned out, so in my frustration I whipped up something that I knew would be a reliable make. ▪️ This was probably my best pattern-matching attempt I’ve done to date (front bodice in photo 4), only to realize afterwards that it was going to be covered up by the giant bow around my neck anyway. No regrets, though! ▪️ I had a ton of extra fabric left over, so I also made a matching skirt for a night at the opera (last photo). Hello and thank you to new followers who found me via Simplicity and Madalynne’s posts on my wedding dress! 👰 I made this blouse with Vogue 8772 and custom-printed poly chiffon fabric. The fabric print is my own design (I have a few fabric designs available on Spoonflower, although not this one currently) and is based on leaf eco-prints my mom created.
