The top is a pink fabric of unknown type that I purchased at @discountfabricoutlet. I bought over 10 yds at the time because I was designing a dress for my daughter to wear in a play she starred in called “Pink Princess”. Hi @sewover50 I am Victoria! I learnt to sew at school on an old Singer sewing machine and loved it. I came back to sewing about 5 years ago and ended up opening my online shop selling fabric, because I couldn’t find anything right for the clothes I want to wear “at my age” 😉. Day 24 of #bmmsewtember is Show your ankara or colourful makes. I'm really enjoying seeing some colourful outfits today! Here are a few colourful ones of mine, I don't really have a massive amount and none of the beautiful ankara prints! First was made out of some vintage pillowcase fabric I bought on Ebay, self drafted pattern. Second is reproduction 20s pattern #M7154 mashed up with the skirt #V8750 . Third are beach PJs from a 30s pattern I have. 2 different ones actually, the jacket is from a separate 1930s pattern than the pants. Hi everyone, a make from me this week. #v8750 #voguepatterns version F, the long skirt that I added an extra 10cm to cos I like my skirts almost maxi - there should be a word for between maxi and midi!😕. I made it with a #polyviscose elastane mix fabric from #tragomillsfalmouth . #navyblue I don't know if there was a problem with the pattern print or not but I do have an issue with @mccallpatterncompany because according to the pattern I'm a size 20! In the 3rd picture I've put one of my rtw skirts in front of it which is a big size 12, probably more like a 14. It's a good job I measured the pattern before I cut it out! I'm always told their patterns are small but seriously!? Can you imagine how annoyed I'd have been if I'd have bought the pattern and I was a size 20? It’s such a rainy day outside and while I’m absolutely wearing sweats and a simple tee today, I decided to try styling an outfit using one of the first skirts I ever made. I’ve learned so much since I first made this skirt! The skirt is a Vogue pattern,#v8750, and I really liked the seam lines in the pattern. Not that any of them matched up when I made the skirt so it’s a relief that I made it in black 😂 I don’t wear black typically since I prefer more colors or earth tones, and I don’t wear pencil skirts much (even though I love the shape of them). And it collects so much cat hair! But part of one’s sewing journey is finding out what one enjoys wearing. Happy Wednesday..... . “Let A Smile Be Your Umbrella” . When I did this project back in April for @sewnmagazine it was so much fun. “April Showers, Bring May Flowers 🌺”. I absolutely love this Floral Ankara and how I mixed it with the Block Ankara print I purchased from @waxprintslacesnmore. And would you believe I found this umbrella after the fact & it went with the entire outfit perfectly. Lucky for me I was already headed to Florida and was able to pack my stuff up and take my pictures there. . I'm trying to sew patterns that I've purchased on a whim (which if I'm being honest is 90% them) and that I've left to linger in my pattern locker. I think I avoided this #v8750 because of 1. edge-stitching and 2. lots of seams but I'm so glad that I just put on Bravo and had a day of reality tv and sewing. I definitely think the fitted version may be worth a try in a heavier fabric.
