Couple goals. I finally made Alex and I another matching look. I had my first visit to @homecraft.textiles at the end of last year, and I picked up this vibrant wax fabric. I made a @merchantandmills #ForemanJacket for Alex, which he’s wearing with his thrifted sequin basketball shorts. And I made another @peppermintmagazine #PeppermintPocketSkirt for myself. It is just my current favourite silhouette for style and comfort. I think I’ve made six so far. ▶️22 Days◀️⠀⠀ ⏩I was able to make the back half of ❄️Winter’s❄️ vest tonight and trim up the bottom of the overcoat. ⠀⠀ ⏩I used McCall’s M7306 as the base for the vest back, just extending the bottom a bit. (I used this on my 🍧Neo🍧 bodice!) ⠀⠀ ⏩The first mock up had too much room in the hips, so the spacing was all off when I pinned it up the back. ⠀⠀ ⏩After taking it in it to make the panels more even, it looks so much better! It also lays better with a zipper 👍✨ (I will also add spiral steel boning in the final)⠀⠀

we shook our fists at the punishing rain & WE CALLED UPON THE AUTHOR TO EXPLAIN!!!!! I first read Nick Cave’s lyrics in his book like poetry before I ever heard his music. These particular lines always stuck in my head. I wanted the text to look a bit like a collage, so I beaded the words onto tiny scraps of deadstock reversible neoprene fabric and used this beautiful trim from @themakersocietyaustralia. One of my personal sewing goals for the year is to choose longer, slower projects. I made this collar with a @mccallpatterncompany costume pattern and then I spent a month beading little embellishments to decorate it. Thanks to the sewing community for suggestions in a blue and white colour palette. I love how @ritapetal’s rain cloud idea turned out! I’m wearing it with a very old #veryeasyvogue dress I made. The laces are secondhand, donated to me by my lovely neighbour Anne. I love that in my street I’m known as the lady to give your old stuff to. I am so pleased with this piece! The fabric is very soft but firm and thick, which made it great for this corset. If I remember right it's a stretch sateen (95% cotton, 5% spandex) The stitching is hard to capture on camera. There is a metal zipper in the back holding it all together and it's boned with spiral steel. This is a modified McCalls M7306.
