These are some of the outtakes for the April edition of #sewnmagazine The dress in an Indie pattern, the Camryn Dress designed by @enina_j_by_janine - It’s a 2 in 1 style dress Based on my measurements at the time, bust 42, waist 30, and hips 48, I cut a size XXL. Since this was my first time sewing an enina-J pattern, I wanted to give myself additional ease to work with. I knew I could always size down. Modifications- 1. I closed the side seams of the dress and top before inserting the sleeve. 2. I am short-waisted and took one inch off the shoulder seam and shortened the skirt at the waistline by two inches. 3. I reduced the side seam near the bust dart by 1 inch for a better fit. 4. I took one inch off each side seam on the skirt portion of the dress. 5. I shorted the collar bias by 1.5 inches. *I will cut a size smaller for my next Camryn make. I made the dog a rain jacket. She's not a fan of the hood, but I think it's adorable. Pattern : S8861 view B Modifications : Omitted pockets and fur trim. Added a bound buttonhole on the back neck so I could clip her lead to her harness. Shortened the Velcro placket. Fabric : @spotlightstores This pattern was well drafted and easy to sew together. This is Thatcher! He’s an Australian Cattle Dog shelter special. My son got him in Arizona, and even in his third winter, he hates the cold. I used a denim from @fabricmart for the exterior, lining from a #fabricmartbundle, and Levi gold thread for the top stitching. Plus, it has cargo pockets! How cute is that. The pattern was @simplicity_creative_group #s8861, modified because I couldn’t get his front legs through the sleeves. Velcro closures at the neck and undercarriage for easy dog dressing. 😄 The hood is too big, but it was a nice touch. And, if you look at the last picture, you’ll see that Simplicity basically copied Thatcher for their sketch. I made a reversible jacket for Cookie to match mine, and these are my favourite outfits photos ever! It's surprisingly tricky to nail the fit for a dog jacket that provides meaningful coverage while also being comfortable enough to have zoomies in. After multiple failed attempts, I achieved it with several modifications, most importantly expanding the arm(leg?) holes, to #s8861. I sewed up the jackets over the Christmas holidays, but we really haven't had the weather to use them until now. I had to make some heavy modifications to the S8861 dog coat pattern by @simplicity_creative_group. My boys are long, slender, but they have deep chests. The large wasn't big enough, so I had to lengthen, add width to all pattern pieces and add darts to shape the rear of the coat. I just love the sporty feel the reflective tape gives these coats.
