Getting super creative with pattern hacks can open a new world of opportunities of unique ideas. This dress was one of them. As mentioned in my previous post, this was an idea that couldn’t leave me alone until it was made up in real life. Now, granted it isn’t perfect, it is still loose around the waist in the skirt portion but that is definitely due to the measurements of the commercial pattern I used. I want to try again using a self drafted skirt to join to the bodice of the indie pattern I used. One little ✨SPARK✨of imagination 💜🧡 Yes, that it a direct quote from #figment 💜 but it’s VERY TRUE! The outfits that I create, are not very typical… my ideas usually come from my imagination! And that’s what’s great about sewing and creating your own clothing… if you can think it up, you can usually create it!!! This outfit it an amalgamation of a few patterns, or what you might call a #frankenpattern 😂 The bodice is a fully lined version of the #mccalls6838 and the bottom it a 4 panel full circle skirt. Matching the pink sections in the front came together almost PERFECTLY! The bolero is the #simplicity9290 which I LOVE! But even the smallest size was too big for me. The idea of growing older and still feeling as if I haven't achieved what I wanted made me a little anxious at first, but I spent some time reflecting and realized that I have actually done a lot more than 20 year old me could have even imagined. I never would have guessed that I would have started designing patterns or even sewing to the extent that I have been doing.
