Monday’s makes and August is quickly flying by! I finished sewing up Butterick 6901 this weekend, sewn with a teal linen I had picked up @joann_stores a while ago. The color of this fabric is so gorgeous and I love the way the set turned out. I have seen so many beautiful versions of this pattern I just had to give it a try. The waistcoat is lined with a batik fabric from my stash and is very fitted. I noticed after looking at pictures that the top button does need adjustment ☺️ the waistcoat has back ties, front and back darts and faux welt pockets. The pants are a front pleated wide leg style with a side invisible zipper. Very minor adjustments needed for both top and bottom making it a very straight forward and pleasurable sew. The tote is just a fun project to use batik pieces leftover from another project. I love a good tote bag and they get used daily! Shown with her sister bag that’s just a little larger. She chose a deadstock wool tweed, which compares wonderfully to a number of in-stock fabrics including EOS fabric #92658 and #92346 if you'd like a little pop of color. She goes on to explain her project: "I used the crotch curve from another well fitting pair of pants to adjust the curve on these pants so I didn’t have to do a muslin. It worked perfectly! I am very pleased with the overall fit of these pants- even though they aren’t my favorite style with the front pleats and facing instead of waistband...I absolutely love the fit of this vest! It was so fun and easy to make with the faux welt pockets. It is also a great scrap buster- so I plan to make more! I am so happy to share these new makes here! I have been needing new shorts for the longest time because all of my store bought old shorts are far too low waist for me nowadays. (Can anyone relate? 🙃) I made the shorts from Butterick #b6901 with a 4” inseam in a navy linen/rayon blend from @mandlfabricsanaheim And to pair beautifully with them, I chose Simplicity #s8889 from the wonderful @mimigstyle and I just love this shirt so so much! First time of making for this pattern I’ve been meaning to make for a while now: a Lisette for Butterick waistcoat. Some holiday outfits made by me! There were a few more bits and pieces but these are the favs. They’re also some of the few things I’ve gotten round to this year as I’ve been doing less sewing. 1: Butterick #b6901 waistcoat and trouser pattern in linen made for this trip. Obvs the trousers get v wrinkled but wore them with many tops as well as the matchy waistcoat. Loved this pattern, almost def going to make the whole thing again but def will use the trousers. 2. Spotty viscose dress I first made a year ago more strappy then redid the top half and much prefer it this way. Can’t remember the various patterns. 3. New viscose brushstrokes dress using McCalls #m8104 which I got free with a magazine. I’ve made it before but this time went without the flounce. 4. Pink trews (top is from Uniqlo). These had a bit of a journey as I used Vogue #v9361 which is a proper wide leg pattern. But I just felt they looked ridic on me so I tapered them in - twice - and fixed my botched waistband and now I love them. I bought the fabric - which is a lightweight denim with a little stretch - like three years ago planning on this but only got round to making them a month or so ago. Cranberry Twill vest (B6901) and pants (V9302). Totally cheated on the welt pockets of the vest because - ain’t nobody got time for that. Also, not a fan of the back zip so I might try the pants that come in B6901 instead of Vogue. I hate sewing pants and I now know FAR too much about the fitting intricacies of crotch curves. It is my pleasure to introduce my new #eddycardiganblazer, a pattern recently released by @fridaypatterncompany. I was on board with this pattern immediately bc my closet has been missing a jacket type situation that doesn’t completely cover up what I’m wearing underneath. I decided to have faith in the pattern for once and cut out a size S without any toiling and practicing, and I made no subsequent mods! Feels a little restrictive in my shoulders but I like the silhouette overall. I’m also super in love with this light wash 13 oz denim and this block print, both from @blackbirdfabrics, and already have plans to make more stuff with both of them lol. I found the sew along video to be a life saver for getting through the back vent! The techniques are pretty advanced (for me) but the video complements the instructions very well and suddenly I had a fully lined blazer. Added a cool circa 2025 label from @kylieandthemachine bc I expect this one to be around for years to come :) Wearing here w Pomona pants as per usual and my #b6901 vest + #regaliablouse sleeves mashup.

Finally finished my gray vest set! I lost my sewjo mid-project as life & work obligations weighed me down.
