I've wanted to make #V1645 ever since it came out and finally decided I could manage it this spring. Made a test garment to check the fit and it turned out pretty good! Fabric is 6 oz twill from @blackbirdfabrics . Size medium with: - the shoulders raised and straightened to raise the darts and waistline - back darts let out with volume removed from rise. Added it back in at crotch - 1/4" off sleeve cap - replaced internal zipper with snaps - skipped binding all the seams . Changes for future versions: - replace shoulder binding with facing - shorten belt - add a touch more rise below waist - sew in both pockets at start . #voguepatterns #vancouversews #blackbirdfabrics

Spontan entschlossen beim der Aktion #zusammennäherinnen von Anne von @beswingtesallerlei mitzumachen, obwohl ich noch nicht abschätzen kann, ob ich im Zeitplan bleiben kann. Das Schnittmuster des Jumpsuit von Vogue #v1645 #v1645jumpsuit liegt hier schon einige Jahre und vor zwei Wochen habe ich mich bereits dran gemacht den Schnitt abzuzeichnen und erste Änderungen vorgenommen. Den Schnitt habe ich verlängert, an meinen runden Rücken und Hohlkreuz angepasst und eine FBA um 7cm durchgeführt. Da das Vorderteil aus drei unterschiedlichen und dazu noch asymmetrischen Schnittteilen besteht, war das eine Herausforderung! Ich hoffe auf das geballte Schwarmwissen, wenn es um das anpassen des Hosenteils geht, da hab ich wenig Erfahrung. Als nächstes möchte ich ein Probeteil nähen, bei mir geht nichts ohne Probeteile, weil ich keine Geduld hab, Änderungen am endgültigen Stück zu machen. Geplant ist der Jumpsuit aus leichtem, sogenanntem Hemdenjeans.

Vogue Jumpsuit #v1645 in a forest green crepe fabric from @newcrafthouse I made this in a size M. I’m 5ft4’ & took about 10cm from the shoulder height to get it to sit at my natural waist and reduce the arm hole width. I then altered the facing to fit the new shorter neckline. I also reduced the width of the shoulders as they didn’t really suit me. At the new waistline, the leg length was perfect & I made no modifications to the legs. Pattern notes 🖤 V1645 in Bubble Cotton. Spoiler alert: I loved sewing & wearing this! 🖤Fabric: The Vogue pattern sample uses a textured fabric and I am sew happy with my choice: I bought this “bubble cotton” at @tessutifabrics Melbourne store and it’s available online too. At $25/m I think it’s a great buy. It’s cotton elastane and the stretch makes it super comfy. The texture is amazing and really doesn’t wrinkle. I was initially worried about interfacing and pressing this fabric but the Tessuti staff were lovely and suggested just pressed gently up and down, (no sliding) with the iron and I meticulously used a pressing cloth to avoid the shine you sometimes get from elastane content. Really lovely to sew and light to wear. 🖤Pattern: this was a great sew for me. After reading many reviews, my two top tips would be: •Use the amazing sewalong by @madebymegblog via her blog - thankyou!! - and ditch the written instructions. Very straightforward! (IMHO you should NOT bias bound finish every seam 😉) •make a toile- there are some awesome seam lines and pattern pieces and knowing how construction happens makes the final sew much easier. 🖤Size Sewn: M, I used my measurements and I found this to be true to size. b94, w78,h99. 🖤Mods: raised the underarm by 2inches, shortened the length by 1inch & took in a smidge along the shoulder seam to bring the bodice up. Long time no see, folks! I am indeed still alive lol. As you may recall, I started a new job a bit over a month ago and it’s great great great tho super busy - as my overtime sheet may attest lol - so no much of anything has been going on lately. We had a week off which I spent sleeping and doing research for a new project. We also took the opportunity to clean the “closet” and I’m elated to say I now have space for new makes, which is giving me back motivation to sew and knit. Before that, due to the lack of room, I felt like if I made a new garment there would be no room for it anyway #TinyClosetProblems. . . . This is the lazy girl’s Rachel Comey #v1645–a crossover jumpsuit with enough visual interest to keep it from pajama territory. The pocket bag construction was a new trick for me and I love how they turned out. The sizing…will need work. I’m making a second and will be adjusting the rise, taking in the leg width and tapering. This feels a touch too oversized to be day wear but oh, is it ever comfy to lounge in and read books on Puccini. Procrastinating on a paper at least gets me motivated to finally make the adjustments to this pattern. Last year I made a jumpsuit following Vogues V1645 pattern in size M, which fit my hip measurements but needed quite the alterations on top. Keeping those in mind, I graded the pattern from S on the top to modified M at the waist and finally M at the hip. _ I really dislike handling such big pattern pieces. #MeMadeMay2022 | day 31 . . . We made it till the end. I didn't post much this May, partially because my account was hacked, but also because I didn't really feel like it. I realize Me Made May doesn't have to include pictures at all, but compared to my effort last year, I didn't really do that much, and that's perfectly ok! I don't need to prove anything to anyone. I've been recovering from depression and just at the end of April I started having any energy to sew something new. I confess I have been kind of on a sewing binge these last couple of weeks (and I have forsaken knitting which is sad sad sad), for reasons which will become apparent in a week or so, haha. I now have quite a few items I actually want to blog about, including a new pants style and the infamous #V1645. . . . Having said that, I'm going out with a bang with this suit made last year, to date one of my favorite ones. The fabric is super super soft - a detriment in suits according to some. While I believe a sturdier fabric definitely has its place in tailoring, and I do love it too, in this case I think this specific fabric allows for a softer silhouette, which may read as more casual in some circles. However I am wearing a suit, I think considerations of formality in this day and age are totally preposterous. I mean, no wonder tailoring is seen as snobbish and stuck up, there's so much gatekeeping around it, both at the consumer and the maker levels. Just don't. . . . Happy pride! As per tradition I come in hot with what I hope is a make for the ages this pride month 😅: the jumpsuit to end all jumpsuits. .  . . I wanted to make this pattern since it was out in…2019 I believe? It took me years but I never said I’m a fast maker. I am very happy with the results tho I may make some additional alterations in the future - it’s really true, I generally fully grasp some of the alterations I need only with wear. I really enjoyed the process and the various strangely shaped pieces this pattern contains. On top of that, it’s a very versatile piece once you remember to apply SPF - very important not just in Japan but everywhere! Melanoma is no joke! . . . I made a pink denim toddler suit...its so comfortable and I'm going to be an easter egg all summer long! I also might dye it a little darker...I love pink but... The front is the #blancaflightsuit from @closetcorepatterns. I've made it once before and will again! I wish I added bust darts...next time! I also wish I had a non white zipper, but I can always switch that out. The back is from #v1645 and I love these pattern peices. I haven't made the front of this pattern but I've made the back twice 🤷🏼‍♀️. The fabric is from @whiteoak_shop and this is actually the "wrong" side.

This one became even more epic to me when so found an old outfit made by my mom, skirt and matching blouse. 🍊🦘 Wrap-front Jumpsuit 🦘🍊 . This is another one of my outfits for an upcoming wedding later this month. I finished it a couple of weeks ago and posted the pattern-hacking details to my stories. It's a simplified (and sleeved) version of the Rachel Comey V1645 jumpsuit that I made using the M7366 jumpsuit pattern as my starting point. . I ended up making 2 toiles before this final version as I had huge problems with the body/crotch length not being long enough and I ended up having to add 5cm (2") to both the front and back rise!. . If you swipe ➡️ through the images you'll find the pattern sketches with my version (left) next to the original V1645 version. I think my pattern hack turned out pretty close to the original 😁. . We are coming along nicely. Slowly. But nicely. Working with the dressform with my own measurements has really been a blessing. So glad I finally finished this project. After all the grading and adjustments I still had to chop around 4 cm from the shoulder seams of the back panel. Which meant retracing the back neckline and cutting a new facing for that part as well. But it's starting to fit very nicely!
