Terrible photo but it did work. ..up to a point. I wanted to make the one-sided drape top from #drapedrape2 . Not having a tiny Japanese body I could not use the patterns provided so had to wing it using Vogue #v2054 which I already owned. The fabric was 150cm wide. ..and as I am a few sizes bigger than the largest of the sizes in the book, and as I wanted it a little longer, I could not place the pattern pieces as much on the bias as the pattern dictates (see 2nd photo). ...therefore I have less drape. But as an experiment it worked, it's wearable as a tunic over leggings and is beautifully soft as I used my merino from @wearethefabricstore. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

From the moment I first saw the swatch of this fabric I knew I wanted to make a cape. Then Vogue Patterns released #v2054 and it was a match! The fabric is our Tartan Plaid in Antique Brass, a mid weight cotton twill in brown and gold. It’s 100% cotton with heft and a beautiful drape, great for coats and capes! I love a cape pattern, they are classic and elegant. Even though they are not the most practical and we only get a short window of wear here in Vermont it is still worth it! The pattern features a wide rounded collar (love), welt pockets and bound openings for the belt. I did not add the epaulettes, personally I’ve never been a fan. My proudest achievement with this project was matching the plaid all the way around! Cutting was a stressful nightmare but so worth it in the end!
