A LOUNGEWEAR SET FOR REAL LIFE? When @simplicity_creative_group launched their new spring collection, I couldn’t get the loungewear set #M8563 out of my head (you can find the full pattern image on the last slide). I was originally thinking of this set in linen but then found this striped cotton in my stash. I figured it would work great as pajamas and possibly as clothing to wear outside the house. After finishing it, I’m wondering: can I wear this set out of the house? Does it need to be worn as separates? Or should it be fun pajamas only? I made views A (top) and D (pants). I’m not a huge fan of exposing my midriff so I added a second tie to the front for more closure. I cut out the flutter sleeve but once I put it on, felt that it flopped about in an unappealing way. I then added the puff sleeve from view B and felt it was too voluminous for the shirt. So I removed the sleeves altogether and bound the armholes with bias tape. For the pants, I sized down 2 sizes (my measurements put me at a large, but I made a small) because while I liked the wide leg, I didn’t want them to be too oversized. I used 2” elastic for the waistband instead of 3/8” elastic in channels of three. I had to chop off 3” of length and I made a double-folded hem at 1/2”. I love the mid-rise pants style. I am confident I will make these pants again. The ruffle pockets are cute and they fit me exactly as I want them to. The top is fun and going to be so great for hot summer days when I want loose but impactful clothing. I think the whole set might be cute with a cream mock-neck long sleeved shirt underneath. I’m going to work on styling it and welcome your thoughts! 🌀PATTERN: @simplicity_creative_group #M8563 in Views A and D.
