Ok, so here is a story. This was the first garment I made using a pattern from the big four. It's the #B6654 . I was super excited about this wrap dress but the shape didn't suit me well and also I made it out of a cotton that was way too stiff. But I didn't know better, so I finished and I hated it: the sleeves didn't look soft and femenine but rather seemed like I had a Pixar lamp hanging on each shoulder. I was so frustrated that I even bought a petticoat to wear under it to see if adding volume would help giving it some shape. Plot twist: it didn't. So I put it aside and forgot about it. Then, almost a year later I was sorting some garments to donate and found my self face to face with my twisted creation. With fresh eyes, I looked at it again and tried it on. Without the frustration I could easily identify what didn't convinced me: it has no shape. The bodice made it look like a robe, and the skirt was too plain. I called it the "sushi dress" because it reminded me of the sushi masters that prepare the food in front of you (you can see in the last picture). Then I decided to wash it and while I hung it I realized I could alter it. I'm still very unskilled and inexperienced in sewing; I can barely make a garment with a pattern and instructions, not even thinking about adjusting or drafting. So I started to show it some love. I finished all the inner edges and made it look better inside. Then I added simple darts under ther bust (which for sure are not even). To give it more structure in the front I added a button plucker. After that, I reduced the volume of the sleeves. Then it came out like this. Is incredible what at patience can do, especially when you have shaken off the frustration. TLDR; first make using a big four pattern. Hated it, altered it. I'm loving it.

Po pierwszym zdjęciu tej sukienki widziałam, że chcecie więcej, zatem...ta daaam 😄 Jeśli chodzi o wykrój to korzystałam z @wykroje_simplicity i jest to pierwszy wykrój tej firmy. Na chwilę obecną muszę przyznać, że jestem mega zadowolona. Instrukcja jest w języku francuskim i angielskim, są także rysunki pomocnicze, więc idzie ogarnąć o czym mowa :) Przy tej sukience przekonałam się po raz kolejny, że lepiej jest rozłożyć cały proces szycia na kilka dni i podzielić na etapy, niż szyć na szybko, jednym cięgiem i czasem do późnej nocy. W przypadku dzielenia pracy na etapy jest mniejsza szansa na pomyłkę, uwierzcie 😅 — Jestem ciekawa, który sposób Wy preferujecie?
