It’s Cinco de Mayo, a fake holiday (it’s not really Mexican Independence Day, people) that I don’t really celebrate in regular years, but I could go for some chips and salsa. . . In experimenting with more naturalistic poses, I let my self timer catch me adjusting my glasses for today’s #memademay2022 picture. This is Simplicity #s2314, hacked to button down the front, and a ready to wear copy tshirt. Although the cardigan could pass for a Blackwood, it’s actually a souvenir from the California Balboa Classic. . . . Skirt sizing: W: 23-32”, H: 32.5-42”. It’s an ancient but apparently still in print learn to sew pattern.

I was reminded today that I finished this skirt 2 years ago! I used the @simplicity_creative_group pattern #2314 with some modifications to make this black/white/gray buffalo print midi skirt. Instead of a side zip, I moved it to the back so I could add pockets. This was also my first time cutting fabric on the bias. Is it perfect? No, but I still ❤️ it nonetheless 😍

Another entry in what we might call the “default outfit” category. This is Simplicity #s2314, with a significant amount of pattern hacking, paired with one of my collection (is 3 a collection?) of minor league baseball 3/4 sleeve shirts. I made this skirt in May/June 2018, and I wear this…pretty much all the time, and all year round (but with leggings under the skirt when it’s cold). Post-pandemic, I’m kind of reverting into the kid who didn’t wear jeans for 8 years solid, so a reliable denim skirt is a must have for casual looks. Also, idk what is in these buttons (from @dressew) but I’ve flown in this skirt twice and had to be patted down because the scanner flagged the buttons both times. . . . . . #memademay2022 #simplicity2314
