Me and my girls @meandmystitch and @thesewingjurist decided to hack a shirt pattern. This is my hack of #v1823. I added a godet panel on each side seam for additional fullness. I added pink piping to the collar, placket and cuffs. Lastly, I added a ruffle on the bottom for additional length and to make it a little more girly-twirly!! That’s it for my changes. Ruffles, pockets and secret pajamas! Barely finished this two piece in time to wear on Christmas. Top is Vogue #v1823 and the bottom from Simplicity #1504. Made from a glorious cotton from @fishmansfabrics and I ran a ribbon down the side for a tuxedo pant look. Mie’s @sewinglikemad continuous lap placket tutorial never fails me! I’ve sewn it here on a sleeve placket where the vintage pattern instructions were vague and undesirable - they wanted me to turn and fold the sleeve slit and slipstitch it down. No thanks. Had a lot of fun with this pattern mash for the #sewaprilblouse23 run by the lovely Gabrielle from @cloth_edit and Ruan from @theyorkshiresewgirl The fabric is a lovely crisp cotton and the pattern was a combination of #ikateepatterns Ida blouse and #v1823. I cheated and ‘drew’ the picture onto the bib using a light box from @peppermintstitches. The trim is coming up very cream in the photos. Had alot of fun choosing buttons from my collection. These are from @textilegarden where I get all of my buttons from. Thank you for organising this challenge. Hoping to get one more in before April 30.

My newest make with rifle paper co fabric!❤️I added a necktie to help keep the collar ruffle from falling over because it’s not interfaced. I omitted the ruffle down the front of view B and it still has tons of ruffles with narrow rolled hems that were a pain in the ass to do!!!😤I love how it turned out. I made a size 8 based on the finished measurements but I was supposed to make a 14 based on my measurements which would have been HUGE! I never trust the size they say I should make…I usually compare the pattern to a finished garment that fits well to choose what size to make. The 8 turned out perfect. Vogue 1823 in the classic teal Ianthe print of my favourite Liberty Tana Lawn fabric. What’s not to love? Well there is an awful lot of gathering to make those ruffles on the collar and cuffs and the tiny pin hems are not that easy even in a crisp stable fabric like this.
